Everyone loves a narc.

It's one thing to be a flat out narc but this guy says they've actually tried to communicate with the neighbors before. If you're going to be an ass and leave your music at an unreasonable volume at an unreasonable hour and inconvenience your neighbors in doing so then you either take what's coming or buy a damn house.

I'm curious what interaction he's actually had with said neighbor.. was it a passive aggressive note or an actual conversation.. if the latter what was said in response to the request? A call from the cops is a sure fire way to ensure a repeat performance, I hope it was worth it.

Only if the neighbor is a completely immature asshole. A reasonable response would be to learn and cooperate. The cops came out for a reason and it wasn't to say "yeah, it's okay to keep doing it and do it more now that we've been out to your house!"

This is the difference between what should be, and what will happen :)

Hah. This reminds me of the time when my neighbors called the cops on me for having my music on at 11pm on a thursday night. I honestly didn't know the music was loud enough for them to hear.. it was pretty damn quiet to me. Needless to say.. they called the cops on me without asking or informing me beforehand. The funny thing is that their kids are in a rock band and are loud themselves.. Anyways, i hope the OP actually did try talking to them before calling the cops. Sometimes people just aren't aware of how much can be heard from the other end.

Should've tied a piece of sh!t around a brick and throw it through their door. Not window, but door.

Well, there are several ways to look at this. It is/was friday night and people are entitled to live a little as they too are paying rent. But it does suck to have a noisy neighbor and I have definitely been down that road too. :(

I live in a house and am quite happy that if I wanted to play a videogame at full volume with my subwoofer going (Klipsch 400 watt set up) or play mp3's as loud as I want right now a little after 4am it wouldn't be a problem. This is the beauty of living in a house.

Problem is that my SO wants me to live an in apartment again. This is a worry for me as in the past I have had neighbors ranging from musicians(very loud) to people who would comment that they heard my microwave at midnight(extreme end of noise complainers). I wish I had an answer for you other than move. You should be able to break that lease if you talk to the leaseholder and explain that the apartment will be very hard to rent after you lose your mind and commit multiple homicides before burning the place down, lol. Seriously, some times they will let you out if you explain things. Good luck.

Ok to clarify. I have spoken with him, nicely, about loudness and whatnot. His reply was that he didn't think it was that loud. Now, I don't care about some noise. I hear him quite frequently, but its not to the point where I want to throw a brick through his window. Last night it was not music. Well it was music but I heard no words, just bass. Bass rattles everything. My pictures on the wall were shaking. That is entirely too lound. (especially at 2am. We have had the same thing happen at 7am too) I'm not trying to be an ass or a narc, but there is a certain line that shouldn't be crossed. Its just inconsiderate and it would be a little different if I was the only one complaining. I am not, everyone in the building complains about it. When I go down to the office today, I am sure that they will say that someone else had already called them about it. Oh and I don't think it was a party. When I came home from work, there was no one outside on the patio, or a whole bunch of lights on or anything, so I don't know.

never know. calling the cops might just make them keep doing it.

The type of person stupid enough to do this in the first place will likely be belligerant and not listen anyway. We really need Idiot hunting season

Well done for calling the police. They inconvience you, you inconvience them right back.

I've had to call the cops on my neigbors a few times. They weren't inconvienced at all. They got a noise ticket out of it and they arrested someone!

This is why I am glad the closest neighbor to us is 1/3 a mile away. I like cranking my Pink Floyd and SRV.

How long does it take the cops???????still loud as FCK.

Noise violations are low on the priority list. Hope it's still playing when they get there. Sometimes it takes the cops around here 90 minutes to respond to my horse-****** neighbors when they have midnight parties and I'm trying to sleep.

same here....not to mention they are drunk as hell wondering around my property sometimes....:x
