I only have one pair of pants here small enough to fit me! Damn! :) I've worked hard to lose the weight and it really does show!

I'm trying to give myself positive reinforcement and praise here, haters stay out of this thread please.

sweet! it's gotta be nice when you *have* to go buy new clothes ;)

i have a friend that weighs over 500 lbs - i offered to help buy him a new wardrobe if he'd get down to 250 or so. we'll see how that goes.

I got so used to hiding in big baggy clothing that I have no sense of what might look good on me anymore. My b/friend and some of my friends have been urging me to buy smaller clothing that shows off my figure,my girl friend has even gifted me with some cute tops from J.Crew and Old Navy...gulp but it's hard to change the mental visual image each of us carry concerning our size.At any rate,I think I'm going to push aside my fears and ask for some help in picking things that will look good on a 5ft 9 slender person:)

That's very true, and an interesting observation. I've been fat and skinny, unfortunately I was fat in high school and the ridicule I took there has stuck with me. I'm not that fat now, but I still feel like I am.

As with most things, we have to change the way we think about it before actions can follow.

Good advice, thanks Geekbabe. :)

another added benefit of weight loss... shopping spree!

You know,at first I thought that too but while looking around the store I got confused and kind of frustrated. It's dawned on me that I'm so used to hiding myself and thinking of myself negatively that I have no clue as to what colors and types of clothing look good on me.Do I want sports clothing or fufu frilly stuff? Arghhh!! Lol,the looking like a waif from a remake of Oliver Twist act has gotta go though,I've worked hard and need some incentive to continue:)

Err, you went from a healthy weight to a below recommended weight? I think for 6' 180-210 pounds is a good area to shoot for? Or do you just not have much muscle and it was almost all fat?

Back on topic, Grats Geekbabe!

6' and UNDER 160?? That can't be good. I'm 5' 9" and about 160/165 (which a good portion needs to be...shall we say...redistributed? :) )

Oh...and congrats, Geekbabe!

160/165 is the reccommended weight for 5'9". I am 155, I have been off sugar for 2 years now and went from close to 180 down to this and have easily maintained my weight eating anything I want to, just as long as I do eat sweets/sugary foods, (does not include bread/ketchup etc, since everything has some form of sugar be it natural or recipe) and lets just say I dont exercise as much as I should. I did atkins a few years ago and went from 175 to 135 in 2.5 months, losing 20lbs in the first 2 weeks but it eventually came back over a 2 years so I tried this and wallah! no more problems. I start working out/running on Sunday to get "tight" again :)

Congratulations, Geekbabe!! That's awesome. I can imagine how proud of yourself you must be; I don't do so well w/diets. I have a problem; I love to eat. And eat. :disgust:

I know that losing the weight has put some serious pizzaz into your relationship. ;) I myself hope to date an attractively thin woman someday...gotta get off my "Amazon Blond" kick.

Best of luck to you and congrats again!!!:cool:
