well i dont check after im gaming that often. but that was probly after css....i dont recall. and zenoth, some of us upped from lower end video cards. like me, i had a x800xl and the x1900xt just released, its quite an upgrade for some of us. and another thing, dx10 is only going to be suppored by vista, and you see what performance vista offers right now? thats another reason to go with current dx9 cards. one question for x1900xt owners. im tryin to overclock mine, but it wont go above low levels.. any clue's on why, whats the safest voltage i can go to with a stock cooler.

I'm just saying that it'd be at least better to wait and see. And then, once the new generation is released, decide.

Not to mention that the X1900XT/X's price will be lower by the end of this year.

And who knows, even if DirectX 9 is somewhat "emulated" on DirectX 10 GPU's, it might still perform better under Windows XP then any current generation GPU's. It remains to be seen that's for sure.

My stance would be wait and see.

It's not like the next generation would be released in one or two years. It's just a question of a few months.

but the question is also this, how much are they going to charge for those top end dx10 cards....how much better will they be, and how long till games start adapting to dx10 standards. i dont see anything going to dx10 right away, and unless there's a good leap in performance from the x1900/7900 to whatever. theres no reason to go that high, yeah he could wait till then to get a x1900xt but he's seeing a huge performance jump in anything he does right now. and its up to him to buy now, or wait. either way, i have a whole lotta airflow as well though, i got a lian li pc 1000, with 3 fans blowing 100+cfm, its not a whine loud but its a blowing noise kinda loud but not as loud as my window ac unit. oh and through the ati ccc overclock, im hitting 90-95C with a core speed of 675mhz and 600mhz ram. quite the jump from 60 to 90-95C lol.

on overclocking with ati tool, i have it set to go to 68% fanspeed at 60C, i top out with 656mhz core and 675mhz ram with 64C.

Running temps in the 90c in load is literally asking for trouble, regardless who the card maker is. Heat is silicon's worst enemy, prolonging usage at this temp will eventually do the card in. I learned it a hard way two years ago when my x700 pro bellied up after roughly a month old running at that excessively high temps. One has to seek ways or methods to keep it running cooler, say 80ish C is more tolerable.
Just my 2 pennies

lol. The X1900XTX temps are fine.

VERY convincing argument! =P

Its not absurd. Its well within operating temperature.
70C idle is normal?

Wow. :Q

My 7900GTX idles at almost half that.

Go troll somewhere else.

The temps are well within the safe operating temperature. Yes 70c idle is high, mine isnt anywhere near that. /done with you

:disgust:
Thats got to be the most unnecessarily defensive post I've ever seen. What in God's name are you concerned about Ackmed?? Hes merely stating his piece..

Considering all the countless topics we have on this it is well known that the cards run fine at this temp. If not then ATI would have to RMA all the cards, slap another heatsink on it and lose millions of dollars.

Second I have a AcII on mine and it idles at 45-48 and during games rarely goes above 65.

My fan speed is 45C-64% 60C-82% 70C-91%
