I was driving home from Blockbuster, and made a left turn, the street were empty, and i got in the turn lane and the light turns yellow but i go ahead and it was a tight squeeze but I was 100% sure i was into the turn (past cross) when it turned red, the offeicer was in the other sides lane and turns around and pulls me over. And tells me that I rana red. The mistake that i think i did was ask him if it was still running if I was past the crosswalk, he has dont even try that on me, walks away, writes the citation up, and I said sorry and everything, he tottally ignores me and just walks away. What now?

Follow him home, spray paint his kids' bikes, brake the smallest window in his house, and run away. Then pay your ticket tomorrow. :)

j/k, I'd fight it. Not sure how, but that sounds like a pretty cheap ticket.

tomcats, ugh but I cant watch it till I have this thru my head, will it raise my insureance rate? If not I'll just take the lesson to not squeeze yellows anymore, if it will I'm gonna fight cuz I'm sure I was in

Does it say anywhere on your ticket if there are any points involved? If there's no points then you shouldn't have to worry about it raising your rates. If there are points then it could possibly raise your rates.

Not sure, where would it say the points? would it be in remarks? I cant make out what remarks say, but none of the bunches of letters seem to spell out point

You're not even remotely concerned about Redwingsguy, are you dparker? At least make your neffing a little less obvious.

Redwingsguy, I wouldnt' think a moving violation such as this would be to serious on your insurance, it happens all the time. It might raise it $15 for a year or two, and then it'll go back to normal if you drive fine till then.
Don't lose too much sleep over it, and tomorrow look into when the court date could be and plan maybe to be there. It might help to get your say of how the situation went down, and if the cop doesn't show up you win by default(ticket thrown away), at least that's my understanding of the crazy US traffic court. :)
I say good luck to you, but don't get too upset by what happened.

Is that $15 for anyone any age or is it different depending? mine is currently $240 a month, full coverage on a 16yo Camaro 01 T-tops :(

<< when it turned red, the offeicer was in the other sides lane >>

How would he know if he wasn't even on your side of the street? Maybe it was a delayed light? Maybe the lights were slightly off timed? :)

I say fight it...odds are that you will come out with either no charge or a lesser charge.

I dunno, that was just a crazy estimate. A young kid with a Camaro is gonna pay big insurance, and it'll probably go up alot more with a ticket, as compared to an old person. :(
Up here in Canada, we got a points system, and you're allowed 7 before your insurance goes up. A moving violation is about 3 or so. You might just have to pay the fine and that's it, who knows.

well he told me he was sure that it was red because his light was green... thats pure bs, I know that the light there have a 1 second delay and even if I had gone in at a flat red his light would not have been green. But I didnt argue seeing as how im a 16yo out at night with spiked bleached orange hair I dont think he cared any bit

Running a stop sign (light?) is a single point offense. Yes, your insurance may go up if you a) don't fight and win or b) are not given the chance to take traffic school.

FIGHT IT.. that will NOT be a cheap ticket.. running a red is a very expensive fine.. about $300...

Unless you have proof the light was only yellow and not red when you passed beneath it, chances are the court will take the word of the cop over yours. Unless, of course, you can somehow convince the Judge.....

On the other hand, if the cop's car had a video cam, maybe you could somehow convince the court to use it as evidence that you were under a yellow and not a red. I rather doubt the cam would have the resolution or graphics (or aim) that you would need to prove your point.

Just a thought (or two).....-kd5-

Just thought about something, when he asked me why he had pulled me over, I said "running a red?", but I said that thinking that was the most probable reason because it was a tight squeeze. But would that be considered admiting to it at all and used against me?

If you just show up to the court to fight it, they might wave the ticket sometimes.
they figure making you come to the court is a punishment enough.
So atleast contest it and tell the judge you did it, and are sorry....

Yeah, that probably wasn't the smartest...

You should have acted like you were all scared, and maybe a few tear drops would help too. Too bad you admitted to running a red light, big mistake!

ouch, so any chances in court with that? ugh why was i so stupid, so in this system you cant even assume why he pulled you over?! Then WTH does he ask you? and cant tell you! this is definitly rigged! I figured they would be better on you if you didnt decide to play stupid.
