It is made up of 2 layers. The first layer is just like the original one made of tin foil. But, it has been reinforced with a rigid, non-flexible layer of steel. It attaches the same way as the original one did, but I haven't installed it yet. The original one bends out of shape when installed, so I hope this one is a perfect fit since it will not bend.

Please, where did ya get it?.....Antec?......I received,(from antec) a replacement. It looked abit wider than the original, but upon further inspection, it has 3 slot holes to one side to make it a little more secure, attached.

Cayjon,

I actually got 2 replacement I/O panels from Antec. The first one I got a couple of weeks ago was just like the one you got with three holes. I never got around to installing it though. The second one came this past Friday and is just like the one I described in my first post. I just hope I can get around to installing it. Just place another order with Antec for the new one.

Seeko,

I just got a SX830 to build my first system. Agreed, the original I/O panel is pitiful. So, I am most interested in finding out how you fare with the replacement. By the way, whom did you deal with when you requested the replacement? Also, what configuration did you get?

If the first (side facing out) layer is still the original 'tin' foil as you say, then I'll pass. This is still pathetic on their part. The way they've manufactured the cutouts on their I/O plates (at least for the KS-282) makes it difficult to install PS/2 mice or keyboards, as they're little metal 'strands' blocking proper insertion of the PS/2 connector. As I didn't (and shouldn't have to) have any tools to cut away the metal, I was forced to use the USB port to connect the mouse. If this is the best they can do, I'm not impressed, and I won't buy another Antec until they fix it.

Hey all,

I just installed the new I/O panel and it fit perfectly. The rigid metal part is on the outside so it looks and performs just like every other case now, no shiny and bending I/O panel. AL77, I suggest you order one, you won't be disappointed. It will renew your faith in Antec. The part I ordered was the Intel "Universal" I/O Back Panel I/O-103. Give Shawn Carroll a call (phone number is on contact/support page) and just give him your address and the part you want.
