ok connected the router to my cable modem, and connected my computer to router.
no configuring done. im able to view websites on the internet just fine however every 10 secs my instant messenger disconnects and i seem to lose connection. firewall everywhere disabled i think.

whats the problem?

also how do i setup a network so my laptop can use its wireless ability?

Ive had issues with mine also, mine maybe 2-3 times a day will just seemigly die and come back 5 seconds later. Ill get a message in my systray that my network connection has been disconected, so I wait 10 seconds then log into my router and my DSL connection is also disconnected. It drives me nuts, Im gonna call D-Link.

Try going into the router setting and then into wireless and change the settings to superG without turbo.

I changed mine to that and it stopped dropping me.

What firmware are you using?

There is a new one, albeit beta. I've used it along with the one released in April with no problems.

Beware whenever updating your firmware on DLink products that it performs a factory reset so have your settings from your ISP (if required) handy.

I've never had much luck with restoring the config files either, always gives me an error.

Cheers!

I had a D-Link router once and will never buy another one. I had a similar issue. Mine was a 604P. It would overheat and crash several times every day, requiring a hard reset. It was a complete PITA because the router was locked in my room; my roommates were SOL if the thing crashed and I wasn't home.
