Just got Quake 3 - what skins/mods/tc's/maps to get?

I know nothing about the Quake community (been a CS player all my life) but I just got Quake 3 and was wondering what I should download for it.

Don't dl anything at first. Try to beat Ranger on hardcore first.

So can you do Doom on hardcore? Even if you can, those online players will annihilate you. I know it from experience.

Threewave CTF is by far and away the best mod for q3 and any game for that matter.

Try weapons factory arena. It rox....Three wave is cool but as far as modding goes, weaps factory is a more complete modificaiton. Team and net play is fantastic and the community is strong and does a good job of policing itself. I played for about 3 years but have been of for a while. I'm finding that Raven 6 is a better all around proggy....that is until DOOM III comes out and rulez the world!!!

The Best Q3 Mod IMO

Haven't played it lately but I am going to DL again soon....the learning curve is a bit hrad because you will die..A LOT but the premise is cool and the weapons are fun..especially if you like sniping...and there are hardly if any cheats for this mod so it it pretty even..to my knowledge anway....if you are into CTF this is one hell of a fun mod.
