That's how I do it, too. The only time that didn't work was when it was a female (I think, it was difficult to tell) state trooper pulled me over. She was so hostile she made my daughter cry (she was 4 at the time). I was only doing 6 mph over the limit, too. :|
Maybe it's just me, but female officers seem to be in a perpetually bad mood.

I got pulled over once because I forgot to turn my lights on. The street is well lit so it didn't really matter. I was real scared because it was my first time being pulled over and I dropped my info on the floor. I couldn't see because she was shining lights in my eyes and couldn't find the papers on the floor. I asked to get out so I could get them but she started screaming at me. I thought she was going to shoot me. I then got a ticket for not having my registration, even though she wouldn't let me get it off the floor.

Yeah, seriously. I had a brush-off with one, and it wasn't pretty. Lot's of uncalled for rudeness and unnecessary display of superiority. Her partner (male) was pretty cool, though.

Chick cops tend to yell a lot, I guess. Comes with being a woman and rather unimposing physically

Right, a car accident at 58mph is deadly, but a 45mph you could hit an elderly woman without even injuring her ;)

COP: Do you know why I pulled you over?
ME: I was probably going quicker than I should have been
COP: That's right, you were doing 58 in a 45
ME: Can't argue with that
COP: Any points on your license?
ME: Don't think so
COP: Can you hand me you license, registration and insurance card please
Me: Here you go

---WAIT OF 5 MINUTES WHILE HE GOES TO HIS CAR---

COP: I'm gonna let you go with just a warning due to your clean record
ME: Thanks alot officer
COP: Slow it down

Did he offer you knee pads?
;)

Bah, why don't I ever get the nice cops? I'm curious though; what does your past record have to do with anything? Were you speeding? Then you get a ticket. If you get arrested for murder they don't look at your record and say, oh, well you've never killed anyone before so we'll let you off with a warning this time. Good for you though. I've been courteous to every cop I've dealt with and they've all been jerks.

Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: Not really.
Cop: You were doing 54 mph (It was a 55 mph speed zone) and I want to make sure you were okay.
Me: Oh.

I did not say anymore because I figured I had slipped in the Twilight Zone.

My goodfriend was drinking heavily two nights ago. He decided to drive home (I wasn't with him or else I would have made him take a cab or find a ride). He gets pulled over, in a place that he doesn't know where he is. The cop walks up to his pasenger window, looks in and says "Slow down." and walks off. He had open cans/bottles in his car--pretty much he should have gone to jail. I do not condone this behavior at all, and yes I know he's a dumbf@#% and could have killed innocent people.

Yeah. If he was in Canada, the speed limit is at the most 100kmph.

edit: he's in Vancouver. Of course he's in Canada.

I had one pull me over about a month after I got my license. I was speeding a bit (35-40 in a 30MPH zone) and knew it, but the b!$@# was tailgating me. After I realized it was a cop behind me (unmarked car) I tapped the brakes to slow down a bit and the lights went on. She "let me off" because of my clean record. From my experience, chick cops definately suck.

I had my own shares of being pulled over when I drove the sports coupe a few years ago. In my experiences, State Cops are nicest and local cops (Bubbas with unmarked cars and motorcycles cops) are the worse.

I got pulled over by a female city cop once and I thought I saw the prettiest cop ever. She let me off with a warning..LOL. Even she gave me a ticket, I still think she was the best looking one (just like the blonde female cop in T.J. Hooker in the 80s).

For awhile there I was getting pulled over so much that when I cop started to follow me I would just pull over automatically and have my ID ready by the time the cop got to my car.
