Isn't it on your drivers license anyway?

😕

my license does not have my SSN on it.

word, what the heck kind of freak state would put a SSN on a license?
:Q

doesn't massachusettes? I thought the OP mentioned that in the walmart check thread tonight. I know Michigan doesn't. My military ID has it though...

-=bmacd=-

wasn't that his SSN on his check? maybe I didn't read the thread close enough.

What happens if you say you don't know your SSN? Would he follow you home and make you dig out your SS card? Methinks not.

i live in new york. i go 25 above the speed limit all the time in new york city (45mph on the L.I.E? crazy)

also on the new jersey turnpike the traffic flow on the express lane on the car lanes are always at least 85 when the posted limit is 65.
it is my first time getting pulled over. in ohio. i am lucky that he didnt give me a ticket. just a warning. would've sucked for my insurance if i did

(if i did get my ticket, would ohio have sent this data back to new york or my insurance company?)

I've always wondered how out of state tickets work as well.

In some states doing 20+ over the speed limit is called WRECKLESS DRIVING and will get your non-speed-limit-obeying-self arrested on the spot. Be lucky all he did was tell you to slow down. The fact he asked for your SS# seems a bit inconsequential.
wreckless driving is generally encouraged.
reckless driving gets you pulled over

Almost all states in a compact in which they report tickets to each other. I believe there are a few that are not. Out of state tickets in NJ are 2 points regardless of the offense.

my point exactly! 20 mph over in Ohio and I get picked? (ok i am damn lucky i got off with a warning but I thought that was normal)

people go 20-30 above posted limit in NYC highways and on the NJ Turnpike and its normal!!!

I got a ticket for 80 in a 65 in Upstate NY, in Afton or some garbage like that. Got the ticket and all 🙁...I wouldn't have minded, except that NY has this thing for a lot of extra fees, and I mean a LOT. The "fees" were more than the ticket itself was worth. Hell, over $90 in "Processing" and "State" fees.

I don't know about the rest of the state but here in Cuyahoga county having our SSN on our license is optional. Last time I got a speeding ticket I was asked for my SSN by the cop.

By the way since you're in Cleveland try out The Siam Cafe for some really good Vietnamese food and the Great Lakes Brewery Restaraunt.

Why would a Thai restaurant serve Vietnamese food? WTF?

Maybe in West Virginia...but I´m sure in every state with a decent educational system it´s called RECKLESS DRIVING.😛

With the computer in modern police vehicles (cop car), the officer can find out everything about you including your social security number just by entering your license number. He probably asked to see if you knew your number and if it matched what came up on the computer. If you had skipped on a ticket or two, or had a string of them, you would have gotten another that night.

If you were really concerned about your SSN at the moment, just say you honestly don't remember what it is. No way to prove you don't and certainly not everyone remembers their own. You're not under oath.

im just a little worried because he was writing everything down on paper. now im not worried about the cop himself (this ain't LA or NYC), im just thinking what if he doesn't tear up the paper completely and throws it into the garbage?

Willoughby Hills could have gone either way, and usually they're azzholes, but state troopers are reasonable. Traffic is always around 80MPH there during rush hours, and no cop will bother you then, but later in the evening mind the speed limits.
