thanks again!

software development, moreso on teh database side. i'm hoping to use this a launching point to my DBA experience since i am capable of doing it

Whoa! I graduated with a BS in comp sci in May 2004, and sadly i'm not making that much yet.

I just got offered a job with pfizer, but the pay is 'ok' at best...I'd be VERY happy with even $50k at this point. There's a white WRX with my name out there...somewhere.

sampson, hah, i have NOTHING to do with that site! i never touched one line of code on it, that's someone else

sygyzy, i was hoping for 55+, preferably 62, but when they made the offer of 53,500 i was like okay. that's al il low, but higher than what they start people off at. i was able to negotiate the bonus and that made me happier, i found it to be acceptable. because of what the company offers in way of school, and distance, and environment, i wouldn't have rejected the offer, but now i am happy that i got the offer because of the extra money

neovan, you should get sirius and start listening to howard to make your drive much less painful! trust me

schfifty, 😛

hero, it's US, canada doesn't count 😉

thanks all!

rudee, i don't consider talking on an internet forum to be a place where i would make sure that my spelling is up to par. actually, it's more typos than spelling because my spelling is usually impecable, as well as my grammar.

astaroth, i'm outside of baltimore, and i come from a state university, not an ivy league like cornell

Wow, just wow...Did you forget the word "never" in front of impeccable?

i think u spent too much time worrying about the spelling and not enough time understanding the meaning

KV - All joking aside, as an engineer, you will have to communicate to people. On the internet, people poke fun of you on message boards. In real life, people laugh behind your back and you miss out on promotions and raises. You really do need to learn to improve your writing and communication skills. An engineer that can't communicate clearly is not worth much.

Believe you me, when it comes to writing formally, i have exceptional skills. i am regularly lauded for my writing ability. like i said, when i type here on these sorts of message boards, i am usually typing so fast that i make typos here and there, but don't really care about correcting them because i feel that my point gets across well enough.

yeah, that's why i mentioned "don't worry about the next few posts" in my first reply. figured people would focus on little bs things like that. you must be doing something right for getting that offer and a sign on bonus to boot

thanks a lot hn, i figured u were referencing some of the detractors. i guess in this instance it was the spelling nazis

can't believe nobody has given you a :cookie:....

:cookie: for you. Hopefully I'll be able to make around the same when I graduate (with 2 years of experience under my belt) 😎

Regards
