that's kind of what management told me. I actually asked for the job, and they were like, really? You'll be MUCH better than the other guy, and we were "wondering" about him. So I think I just accelerated his jobloss.

they will eventually find a way to get rid of him sooner or later anyway. ride the wave and get a promotion out of it.

Meh, that sux, but you pretty much have to take it though. Hopefully the guy will understand, but ya know, try to sugar coat what happened and stuff, I doubt whoever is offering the promotion is just gonna go tell the dude you stole his job, so if you play it cool hopefully it will look just like some bad luck and he won't take it against you personally.

Don't talk to him about it at all. It's strictly business, nothing personal. He doesn't have to know who's getting his old job.


Don't feel guilty about being rewarded for hard work. Move up or go nowhere.
