Just got off the phone with Paul Ryan

I called his congressional office, basically saying I felt he was the clearest, most concise voice in the Republican party that I heard during the last few months over this healthcare debate. His staffer put me on hold and transferred me. Musta been a slow day...heh

Paul picked up, chatted with him for a minute about whats going on and what they are going to do to try and stop it. I tried to urge him to run in 2012 but he said he has no plans, he said he has young kids that he will focus on, but he will run for reelection in the house in November.

As long as their plan doesn't have a lame ass soundtrack by Aerosmith full of songs co written with Diane Warren then I'm all for it.

Also it shouldn't star or be associated with Ben Affleck in any way.

No flames from me. I think he's without a doubt the brightest and the most promising politician I've heard in a long, long time. He reminds me of a former president of ours. Many would like to see him run in 2012. Ryan/Bachmann.

Bachmann.. I think I just puked a little bit in my mouth. I felt a chunk of something come up there.

I want him to run. He'd be perfect. Him or Issa.

Dems want him to run too. His recent proposal on tax cuts for the rich that would make Bush blush guarantees he doesn't attract independents.

How about Ryan/West?

Now, he hasn't held a political office yet but he's running for Congress in Florida. He'd have a couple of years under his belt though.

I don't really support any of them as I'm pretty liberal, but Bachmann is one of those people who is nothing but a clown. A destructive clown. At least Ryan has a functioning brain, albeit one that comes to different conclusions that I do.

Anyway 2012 the Republicans will offer up a lemming ala Kerry 2004. Their Presidential primary process is so fucked that they don't have a chance in 2012, because the candidate will be forced into a far right hole that he/she won't be able to dig out of.

That's a catchy phrase for the Obama/Biden ticket in 2012. Well done!

Biden has to play to his strengths.

He's crazy and smart. Be very afraid.

:D

I am pretty sure that is what got independents to vote for Bush in 2000.

Which is actually fine with me. Over the years I've learned that gridlock is best. With gridlock, what needs to get done gets done and it gets done in a bipartisan manner. Either party is capable of great extremes with full control.

Of course my true desire would be to wipe the slate clean and start with fresh new faces. But that's a wish that will in all likelihood never come true.

Edit: I didn't declare my assumption that the Reps would win back one or both of the houses of Congress.

While Bachmann/Palin do hold some very positive conservative values (small government) they are far to politically "loaded" to run for president/vice president.

The GOP needs someone who is not associated with the tea party or the religious right to run and then have those like Bachmann and Palin to steer the tea party into the hands of the GOP.
