I didn't waste any time and plugged it in my ultra-d mobo. This time I followed AS instructions and applied some AS5 only on the center instead of sreading it all over the cpu. The good news is that I just started playing with it and right now I'm 4hours orthos stable at 2.85Ghz with default voltage. The bad news is that at some point it reaches 64C on both cores. I saw some pics from other users that ran opty dual core at 70C and it was stable so I'm not sure if I should be worried. I have a thermalright XP90 with low noise panaflo fan (I'm a quiet PC fan). I want to see how much further I can go at stock vcore but the temp scares me a bit...

any advice? I included photo with some basic staff

are all those opterons that good or I got a golden chip?

UPDATE: also why some prgrams are reading my cpu as toledo and some as dentron? I'm pretty sure it should be dentron everywhere...

Dentron? Never heard of such a code name before.

Most opterons will do 2.7~2.8GHz @1.30~1.35V. Yours is somewhat better than average, me thinks.

I'd say you got a great chip. My motherboard may be limiting my OC, but I'm not getting much better than 2.6 and my load temps never exceed 39C (i've spent a lot of time on my airflow). I've tried up to 1.45v, and I didn't have the guts to go higher on a chip I just unpackaged four hours previous. I haven't messed with it since really - 2.6 seems fine for the time being. I'd sure be curious to know how it'd do in a dfi though...

Moral of the story: I'm jealous. :p

These newer opterons are very nice chips, as you can see from my sig. This overclock was done with literally a total of less than 1 hours work, including install time, and yes jenny it is 100% stable (if dual folding@home for in the 36+ hour range ain't stable, I don't know what you guys measure stability by).

I also got the CCBBE stepping:) do you mind telling what temps you got and what cooling?
I can sense AS5 is burning in because the load temp dropped since yesterday from 65-66 to 60-61.

I load in low 60s too, at 2.8Ghz and 1.375v.

CCBBE as well. Yes, they are all this good.

It's funny how different these results are from mine. My 175 is maybe 2 months old. My load temps are 25C cooler, but my OC won't go above 2600 or thereabouts, even with way more voltage than y'all are using. The max speed for my memory is around 245mhz, but x11 it's very unstable, and then at 4:5 with x10 I don't get above 260. Maybe up to like 263 or so, I haven't taken the time, but that's it.

I doubt I'll spend the money to get a new mobo for this aging platform, but it would've been sweet to get a higher OC. I'm not sure what my stepping is... I didn't look before I installed it.

Ok a little update. Now the temp is below 60C at all times and I'm finishing testing 2.9Ghz at stock vcore (only orthos left for testing but so far everything rock stable). This CPU was the best $179 I ever spend and will hold me nicely before changing the s939. Sandra is reporting higher results than FX62 is it accurate? What's the safe temp for those things? I'm definitely sure I can reach 3.0Ghz with some extra vcore or maybe even without it...
