Well i got it in the mail a few days ago. Thing is that i don't know if its barton or not.It says xp2500+ with 512KB cache, is this the barton processor? Or are they both the same. It doesn't say barton anthwre in the manual or on the box. IT does say AMD Athlon XP 2500+ / 1.83 GHz, 333Mhz CPU L2 512 KB -CPU. ANd it comes with QuantiSpeed architecture. So is this the acual barton chip?

thanks

Don't worry it's a Barton Core, "AMD Athlon XP 2500+ / 1.83 GHz, 333Mhz CPU L2 512 KB -CPU" are the specs for a Barton core 2500+.

"Barton" is actually just the working name of the core. (Such names used to be code names but then they started to be used for generating marketing hype making them a very poor secret code). It's not the consumer name which is simply "Athlon XP".
