Just got my 2405 in the mail

did u increase the brightness via the small buttons to the bottom right of the panel?

my 2405 rules

do you crave brightness? sometimes it doesn't need to be super bright.
i feel my samsung 730b could be a little dimmer, but when I let it go darker picture quality isn't the same. If a monitor looks great at a lower brightness, that could be better. Maybe your eyes are just too trained at the moment on the brightness of your last monitor. If you can, take the Dell and set it next to a CRT, and compare brightness. How does it look then?

Heh, I WISH I could afford one of those things. *Grin* But then again I could have before my current rig got built *smirk* Maybe one of these days, but then again my next LCD will have to be HDCP complient because I won't be replacing a third time before Vista.

Man, i just purchased a 2405 today. I don't even really need one! But the price was fantastic. Worst comes to worst, i'll just ship it back... it was free shipping anyways, and shipping it back will probably only be like $30.

Sell it.

I know most of you think your 2405s rock or whatever, but once you've used other monitors before coming to the 2405/2005 then you'll know they're not really quality monitors. Yes maybe I did spend $420 on a 19" panel, but damn right it's one of the best ones out there (Viewsonic VP191b). But now I know what clarity should be, color vibrance, etc..

I work for a LARGE Architecture firm, and until we couldn't find enough VP191b's, that was our LCD of choice. We've since gone to the VP930b, which increased the contrast ratio to 1000:1. Nice screens.

I had the Sony 23" before the 2405. The Sony I do like better so I run dual monitors 🙂. Sony was 3x as much as the Dell though..

I have a Dell 1800FP at work and use a Viewsonic VP201s as well. I prefer the 2005 to either.

And it's 1280x1024.. same res as any old 17" but with big ass pixels. You could have bought a 20" 1600x1200 Samsung for that price.

Could it be just that the 2405 gives better contrast than you're used to? That might show as lack of brightness.

I love my 2005, wouldn't trade it for anything short of a 2405/Samsung 244T.

Put down the crack pipe, the 2405FPW runs at 1920x1200.

You put down the crack pipe. I was replying to a guy with a 19" LCD that he paid $420 for.
