I know most of you think your 2405s rock or whatever, but once you've used other monitors before coming to the 2405/2005 then you'll know they're not really quality monitors. Yes maybe I did spend $420 on a 19" panel, but damn right it's one of the best ones out there (Viewsonic VP191b). But now I know what clarity should be, color vibrance, etc..

And it's 1280x1024.. same res as any old 17" but with big ass pixels. You could have bought a 20" 1600x1200 Samsung for that price.

Put down the crack pipe, the 2405FPW runs at 1920x1200.

You put down the crack pipe. I was replying to a guy with a 19" LCD that he paid $420 for.

Just start handing the crack pipes my way and nobody gets hurt.

I have my brightness and contrast all the way down (contrast 50 on DVI) AND I have 20 brightness dialed out by the video card LUT.
Maybe the OP just needs a darker room.

I did that when they first came out and wished I hadnt returned it, I ended up buying one of ebay a few weeks ago, I love it.

o.p. I cant imagine another lcd being brighter than my 2405, it is blinding when turned up, I have the brightness down to ZERO and it is fine.

Agreed. I had the same feeling about the 2005 and I just checked...the brightness on this 1800FP is set at 50% and I'm in a fairly bright room.

You get what you pay for. I got a 20" LCD for $350. I'm happy.

I use a laptop that has ADJUSTBLE BRIGHTNESS and a high enough resolution to make me happy

I love my 2405FPW. It is an awesome, high-quality display. I had to turn the brightness down on mine, but now it is great. OP you may have just gotten a bum display.
