Just got me a 1971 Volvo 144S WeeEeeEeeEee

Along with my other car, i got that baby - i dont have pix yet, but those are the specs:
1971 Volvo 144S
2.2 Liter I-4 with a turbocharger giving an output of around 160 HP (130 w/o charger).
80K Original Miles
5-speed Volvo S-60 tranny (somehow it fit the engine, dont ask...).
Perfect interior - red leather 🙂
A 6 speaker stereo, woooo!
Grey-ish silver color.
Not the best thing ever, but nevertheless i love how it looks, i even like it more then the BMW!

😀 😀 😀 😀

amazing how volvo parts fit other years than those intended for them to. i had an 86 740gle and needed a new door....turned out i could use any door from a 7, 9 or 8 series until 96, they were all from the same mold. made it pretty easy to find a used one! (actually came from a 95 850🙂)

That baby kicks in at about 3000 RPM. Until that its kinda sluggish, but when u hit 3K, it rockets forward.
I hit 85 on a freeway ramp, hella sweet!
Only thing tough, it's Tachometer used to be hella messed since it needed a 1/2 resistor... i have it fixed now, but before, when u got at about 65 on the highway, it will show like 6K RPM 🙂

And about the parts - i needed a new fender for that thing, got it from a used 75 145 Stationwagon 🙂

😀 For the Volvo. The first car I remember is my parents' '86 245 DL. Something about that car just made me love it, even the blue vinyl interior which was scalding in summer and the A/C system that never did better than lukewarm. Once I get my 914 and my Accord back in shape, I'm going after an old 2-Series Volvo. Love the Sweedish Brick. After that, I will hopefully find a P1800S to play with. Very nice car, Shadowfire, have fun with it.

You know, I've just realised that I can never get married because I don't see many women putting up with a guy who wants to spend money on cars that no-one else cares about.... And I don't see me putting up with someone who trys to get me to choose her or the cars. She'd be very disappointed. 😛

My dad just came from the mechanics with it, said he hit 120 on it or so he thought since the speedometer stops at 120... 🙂

Volvos are a great "sleeper" car 😀 I love my A4, but I do like the looks of the new S80.

wOw!
I didn't know that those old Volvo's have all-4-wheel-disc-brakes!
Heh, and just found out the suspension is levable - means i can raise or lower it by using a big wrench, woot!

I heard that Volvos are a bit flimsy.

<< In 1966 Irv Gordon of East Patchogue, New York bought a new Volvo 1800S. He liked to drive, kept the car, and now has driven it over 2.9 million km (1.8 million miles), enough to place him in the Guinness book of records. Gordon had his engine completely rebuilt at 1.08 million km (675,000 miles). "It was" he said, "getting a bit noisy."
