Well, technically, you don't "have" to straighten up since you're on your own
now and you can do whatever you want.

One word

Hint: Starts with a P and ends in ARTRY

just playin ... you're basically screwed

Welcome to the real world aka "pain and consequences"

Yeah, now that I don't have anything to do with my life I think I may invest in a kegerator and a pot/soil. And I'm going to Mardi Gras in a week!!

You have $350 to your name, no job and no apparent plans to get one. What's the right thing to do? Blow your your money on a trip to Mardi Gras!

Buck up and grow up - Go out and get a job and tough your way through school and make something of yourself.

So you weren't working and you weren't going to class, then WTF have you been doing with your time? Perhaps your parent's did you a favor by kicking you to the curb.

If everyone's parents kicked them out of the house at 18 and told them to deal with their own life we'd have a bunch of people working and McD's and very few college grads.

Sure, some kids need it, but frankly if I didn't have my folks to support the bulk of my college education the first three years I'd probably either be working at ShopKo or dead in the ground from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. As it is now I'm (mostly) independant and 3 semesters away from graduating with a degree in Computer Science.

if you want, you can just live off loans and work your ass off in college and get a great job that'll help pay for your loans in no time

i'm not taking jobs right now but using loans and part time tutoring to get by fine

I'm glad I was out at 18. I think I have really gotten farther in the last 4 years than if I had stayed with my parents.

Same. I left right after graduating from high school, at the age of 17.5

Been on my own ever since then.

Yup, same here, and I would've done it the exact same way if I had to do it over again.

why do you have to drop all your classes?

Failing them from lack of study/attendance.

weren't you going to join the PEace Corps or something? I remember a thread about that.

I work 35-40 hours a week and carry 15 credits right now, and after first quarter exams I have all A's. It isn't fun, but you CAN do it, you just have to work hard and not screw around.
