just got home from surgery on my shoulder

wasnt sure what the real problem was (i knew i had shoulder discomfort, the MRI revealed it may have been a superiro labrum tear).

turns out I had a "significant tear" and the repair went well. (arthoscopic).

in the back of my mind i was afraid that he'd scope me and say there was no problem, and couldnt find the source of my pain.

dont know why im posting, and dont know if im rambling because the percaset.

supposedly. i can type okay w some pain so maybe monday if im ok not out of it/in pain.

problem is im out of days off for 2006 (started midyear only got 11 and took about 6 because of this arm problem) and i think my short term disability only gives me half of my salary :\

One piece of advice when it comes to shoulder surgery: stay on top of your pain. Even if it's not hurting, take your pills as directed anyways. Shoulder surgery was by far the most painful surgery I have experienced (out of 4 other orthropedic surgeries). I made the mistake of convincing myself the pain wasnt that bad until I my meds wore off and was on the brink of tears for an hour until my meds caught back up.

yeap i agree. it also takes a while to heal from it. I had surgery done on mine like 3 months ago. it is still in pain. I went in yesterday and got a anti-inflammatory shot to hopefully reduce the pain.

Also, if you havent already, start taking stool softeners or laxatives. Pain meds, for most, slow down your digestive track to a hault and taking those is better than not taking a dump for a week. Either that or make sure you eat some greens and fiber.

percocet FTW! I love my wife... immediately following the surgery and every 4 hours as prescribed... she popped a little purple pill in my mouth. At least thats what she tells me... I don't remember.

Had surgery last december with torn rotator cuff, two labrum tears, and some arthritis shaved off. Dumb me got hurt again so I will have to go back again.
