Hope you like it more than I did. Worked in computer dept about 8months ago...lasted 2 months before I quit. Didn't like the supervisor taking over my customers because my supervisor really wanted everyone who bought a system to buy the warranty. Also, be ready to do A LOT of heavy lifting, since newbies are first in line when it comes time to unload trucks during late night.

How much $ do supervisors get paid (in terms of wage and bonus)? Are there bonuses for hitting target warranty/accessory goals?

hopefully BestBuy hires me, i should be gettin a call for an interview soon after the phone interview.

and yeah you arent a salesman if you said

"did stupid "role playing" with the interviewer (pretending he was a customer, etc)... "

you just wont make it.

i did fine on the "role playing" - infact the interviewer said i was one of the best he'd had in there yet (they are doing all hiring - since it is a new store)... so bam.

I worked in Media for three years. You better know and love your role playing. Just listen to your boss. He/she'll teach you everything you need to know to succeed.

computer department SUCKS at best buy. i hated working there. it was ok the first couple of months.. but bleh.. i hate those damn service plans. just work media... that's easiest.

Staples.com is crap because they blacklisted me, something about coupon abuse which is only partially true.

LOL! I didn't even know you can get blacklisted or even do "coupon abuse"!

When I supervised the Computer Department I was making $23/hr with the potential of a 15% bonus (5% warranty, 5% accessories, 2.5% revenue, and 2.5% margin)

NEWSFLASH! He told that to everyone that interviewsed. My point was that if you think roleplaying and sales practice is stupid, then you wont like selling everyday to real people who can be major pains in the butt.

i never said i thought sales practice was stupid, etc... and i realize what the job is gonna take - it was just kinda awkward/weird/hokey "roleplaying" like in the interview - thats what i meant

Is media music/movies or computer media (CD-R's, floppies, etc.)?

In the Tulsa store Media is cds/dvds/video games, software, digital media, digital media storage.
I was also responsible for backup cashiering and being able to sell in every other dept except for apliances.

i still get flashbacks sometimes.

Well I don't think he was trained to answer your question of "Hey baby do you like the looks of this?"
