My apartment recently got sold. The new owner showed up today and said this ``I`m moving in, you have to leave``

So how was your day

I don`t really know. I`ve lived here for 3 years now and my old landlord was the best. He`d let my rent slip for months at a time...i think because this place is a complete shithole. it`s funny though. The new owner is a chinese woman who is completely clueless as to how bad this area is. I`m not joking when I say people get stabbed and shot literally steps away from my door.

She goes ``but there is new townhouse complex down the road..did that not make area better. Uhmm for starters this place sits next to the worst apartment building in Toronto...you can look it up on youtube ..its called 500 dawes road. Secondly this small area has the highest concentration of white trash in the world..no joke. Fuck man, she is in for a rude awakening when she moves in.

almost forgot. She had the audacity to ask for this months rent...like fuuuuuck you ..you ain`t getting shit from me now. I`ll need first and last month pretty damn soon.

Your not being evicted.
Your are being informed that you need to pay your rent.

Now if you do not pay your rent according to contract (inherited by new owner), then you must depart.

Simple choice with you making the decision.

she is bringing papers by tonight to sign agreeing I will be moving out in 2 months. I think i`m getting evicted. Oh well, atleast hopefully my new place will have closets and some storage unlike this shithole.

If she accepts your rent, she has implicitly accepted your tenancy and cannot evict you.

If you sign those documents, you are agreeing to leave on 60 days notice, not being evicted. Check your lease, but it likely does have a clause in there detailing your rights and obligations if the place is sold or if you are given notice in writing.

Do you have a long term lease or month to month? If month to month that is not a eviction just a notice the lease is ending.

Make sure to take plenty of pictures when you move out and get your deposit back.

/this.

mayne you are short on info...

Fill the drains with cat litter and go move to a better neighbourhood while you can. Though on serious note check with the housing laws, if you never got a notice they might be in the wrong. The rules tend to be on the tenant side more than landlord.

PM Trident, I hear he's looking for a room mate since he lost another job. 😛 But if that place is really that much of a shit hole it might be a good time to look into a better place anyway.

Being evicted is when you're served with court papers to get the fvck out by a certain date or the sheriff will be coming by to toss you and your sh1t out. That's being evicted.

You're just getting a notice to vacate in two months. But this can lead to the eviction process if you don't.

I've gotten notice to GTFO once when I lived in Oakland. The owner made all these updates to the building, and when he was done he kicked all of us out. I think he did it so he could raise the rent faster than he would have been legally allowed to do with existing tenants. It was literally on the border between OK Lake Merritt and ghetto, so he probably was able to double the rent on new tenants. Its the risk you run when you rent month to month.

I don`t really care anymore...maybe its for the best. These things tend to work out...just hate moving.
