and I could have done practically anything I wanted.

After taking thoes flights I truly realize how open we really are.

Still would not have made a difference If I had a bomb strapped to my leg.
Or If I had ceramic or glass knives.

My ride drove around in a circle waiting for my late flight.
He went through the arrivals driveway 6 times and waited in front of the doors for 5 minutes at a time.
Security asked him for his ID but he didn't have it, so they just let him go about his way (3 more laps around the airport).

I'm taking a flight from Portland Intl. to LAx Thursday morning. I've got two bags, one I want to carry on. Do you suggest that I just throw them both in the hold instead of have a carry on? How's security? In order to make my 6:30a flight, I have to be at the airport at 5:00a!

ouch.

anyway, what's your suggestion with the baggage?

Well I would say it would depend on how busy the airport is.

If you have stuff you want to carry on, just bring it with you as normal.
They will xray it, and may randomly ask you to open it. Not very much different then it has been in the past.

I got taken aside and given the metal-detector wand treatment, they even made me take apart my belt buckle.
But otherwise most everything is operating as normal, I got to the airport @ 4:30pm for my 5:20 flight, and still had enough time to hit the bar for a few drinks and some fries before I boarded.

<< so what's your point? you want the gaurds watching ppl at the coke machine? >>

They have been for years, whats your point?
My point is, there is nothing stopping another incident like this from happening.

Short of securing cockpits, which it looks like they are starting to do, there is no way to stop it from happening.
