And I was wonderin, Where a good place to look for tips is. I want to practice. But i cant do that unless I play a game. Is tehre a downloadable training program somewhere?
Although it may not be fun, I recommend just getting into a server (some are listed as newbies only; if you can, I would try and find one of those, although it's not guaranteed that someone experienced with the game won't be there cleaning up...) and playing. Bots are good for working on aiming and I still use them to practice weapons that I'm not very good with that I need to get better with. Bots are good for practice, but they're not a good substitute for playing against real, thinking humans.
did you install cs as a mod to halflife or did you buy it? in halflife there is a training mode in single player mode, just click on training or soemthing like that, it teaches you to jump, shoot aim, crouch etc.
I have the Retail, and there is a small trainer. It not worth it though. Its just a small map with instructions to shoot at cardboard figures (well, its a little more complex then that). Your best bet is to just play and learn. Believe me... thats the only way you can learn some skills.
try one of the bot programs (although I've noticed even on easy mode it's really hard lol) or play on uk2.net's newbie servers. Once you hit 5 kills or +5 or something indicating that you're too good for that server it kicks you off and declares you ready for their regular servers. Pretty bad ping but I started there and there's never any good people trying to ruin the fun
And then some people like me just get owned every game, despite many months of playing. I'd always get killed so quickly. I swear that some people have a brain that is nothing but a couple dozen 200 Terahertz processors - they react and aim incredibly fast. Of course, some just have aimbots that let their computers aim for them. Friggin cheaters.:|
