Just got banned till 2008 in CS last night

I got perma banned a couple days ago for awp'ing the server owner in the head.

hehehe damn..i hage rage3d running in the background as well...hmmm....my roommate got the same thing..but not for 5 years! ..he even has a gainward ti-4200 w/ just det drivers and stuff...probably someone used ur cdkey and stuff and hacked?..donno.....i used gameutil everytime and had no problems....hahaha...shiet...just change ur cdkey and u can play again.....i have my own original cdkey so if they did that i have to make some phone calls....

It indeed may be the Rage tweak you installed. If you remember a while back ATI was selling cards that offered features like "transparent walls" and "object tracking". Hell, the box even said "if you play against anybody running our cards you'll lose." The entire CS community got really pissed and actually managed to get ATI to remove the software that let you do that stuff. Unfortunately it got out so there are still copies of it around. I imagine someting in the code for your tweak program made VAC or maybe HLGuard think it was the old ATI "cheat" software.

That was a geforce card...made by asus

Thats what I thought, and it was Asus' call. Not hardware.

i remember that...it was indeed the asus card...my suitemate during my freshman yr in college had that asus card and the software enabled u to do it..aha it was pretty funny back then.....but yeah..cheaters suck

Hah, I don't play CS but I've gotten that in Tribes Shifter. I've had my share of people banning me because I'm killing them and they think I'm cheating. The ironic part is that I do know how to cheat in Tribes since I mod it, but only because I was looking for the holes so I could fix them in my mod. I'm good about it though; I've only used admin options I wasn't supposed to have access to once. 😛

i think he's saying he was banned from all servers...not just one in particular

They did have a problem where if your RAM had errors, it would pick it up as a cheat... but they made it so that it doesn't ban you for that now. Sometimes they have problems with third party programs too. For example, right now they released a couple of anti cheat modules that detect 95% of the public cheats out there but they have a bug in them that prevents people running WineX is play. They said it'll be fixed soon..

it's tough for Valve's anti cheat crew.. they've got a lot of crap to deal with with their anti cheat

Yeah, CS is a great game but the net code for it sure does make anticheat software a challenge to keep updated. Let's hope Half Life 2 has better anti-cheat friendly net code for CS2.

lol, I can still see through walls sometimes and I've got an ATI card.

Same, thing too. On my friends old 7500 he can have reallly screwy thing happen allowing him to see through textures 😛

Yeah, that's probably the firmware part of the cheat software kicking in accidentally. A lot of it was built into the chipset as well apparantly. Really, really bad judgement call on the part of ATI.

nope...that's what happens on older Radeon cards when you force certain zbuffer depths in OpenGL...a friend of mine showed me how he did this on his 7500 and it was a 'free' cheat...undetectable too.

This happened on my G400 too. It was no software trick, but a driver glitch. All I have to do was use directx and go to desktop, and back, and the walls were gone. It only worked once though, and the fact that you loose sound was more annoying then anything.

everynow and then I'm able to see through walls with my 9700tx I got from dell. I can only play like that for about and hour becuase I get massive headaches if I continue playing. and I can only see through walls about 20% of the time.

Played CS once.

Got owned, since I was killed 5 seconds after entering the server and no one was around, I figured someone was cheating by shooting through walls.

I never played CS again.
