Just got back from the OR - Final Update

stay strong and positive around her. i know it's easier said than done, but that's the most important thing you can do for her right now. my prayers really go out to you and her.

damn, health is something we should never take for granted and i really hope she makes it. my mom just had a ruptured brain aneurysm and survived. she's on a full road to recovery right now but it's been tough. just be strong for her!

I didn't know it was possible to survive an aneurysm. I'm really happy she survived. Best of luck to her as well.

Liver cancer took my mom. Ugly disease. I can't fathom how it feels to have your "life partner" sick with this.

Wow, tough situation. There's not much I can do but say "hang in there" and say a little prayer for you/her. Sounds like she's in good hands as far as care goes. It's a hard struggle, but there's no alternative.

thanks. yeah, after everything happened i was reading up on it and the statistics are GRIM. those who do survive are severely disabled, but miraculously, she is pretty much all intact because the location of the rupture, and the doctors predict she might even be able to drive again in 3-4 months!

Update 7: We got a call late yesterday afternoon from the surgeon's office. The surgery is confirmed for 0700 on 6/30/08. I'll post an update that day or the next with the results.

Update 8: The surgery was a success. The doctor found that the tumor was definitely on the pancreas and not her stomach (his initial conclusion). He was able to completely remove the tumor by doing a partial pancreatectomy and a full splenectomy. She'll be in the hospital for about a week and should be able to resume a normal life within a few weeks. She is in a lot of pain as you might expect, but her prognosis is excellent and may not even need chemo or radiation after this! Thank you one and all for your prayers and well wishes, I believe that they were all instrumental in the successful surgery and will continue to be effective during her recovery.
