Good luck, I'll be thinking of you and your wife. Hope something turns out well.

Does anyone have any ideas for sweet gestures I could use to make her feel better? She didn't sleep well last night and is napping now. I'm making dinner for her, but it seems so futile as she probably won't eat much. I've got the kids quietly occupied and the house has been straightened up, but I want to do something special for HER.

Thanks for the prayers and support, it means a lot to us. We don't have any family down here, so we're pretty much on our own.

In my experience, as guys, we tend to focus on providing "practical" support rather than emotional support. So be there for her--listen, cuddle, be attuned to her emotional state and match yours to hers. If she has concerns about who is taking care of the house and kids, reassure her that that those things are taken care of.

Have you looked into support groups for your wife or yourself?

It's too soon for that, but something worth looking into if this mass proves to be malignant. But the emotional support is something I'll work on, I'm not the most emotional guy so it won't come naturally, not the way a woman would want. I'll definitely work on that. Thanks for the tip.

back rub? or a foot rub. ohhhh, a nice long foot rub, with some massage oil or even some body cream. that would be a sweet gesture to help make her feel more relaxed.

or draw her a nice warm bath. do you have any bubbles for a bubble bath? that would be nice too.

Update: We just got back from a long ultrasonography session. The tech couldn't say anything, but he did point out some questionable spots to us. Hopefully we'll know more sometime later today or early tomorrow.

A husband's worst nightmare is that of a sick wife. I hope things turn out better for you and you get good news. You and your wife are in our thoughts.

Best of luck to you and yours. Health is overlooked all the time and it's not till something actually happens that you realize what's most important in the world. What's worse is that it's someone you love and can't do much but watch them go through it. Be strong and hope for the best.

:(

I just lost a good friend to cancer yesterday morning. It's tough, but stay strong.
