Just got back from the Nightwish concert in SF

With Floor Jansen they actually sounded like Nightwish again.....it was actually almost emotional when they sang Dark Chest of Wonders and it sounded like it should. She was introduced as their new singer and not their replacement singer....I don't know if that was semantics though.

We took our daughters, 7 and 9, to the concert. They were raised on Nightwish and we got the VIP tickets so we could go to the meet and greet. There's nothing bad in their music...it's basically poetry to symphonic metal, but we got some looks. I don't care; they loved it. Well they loved it once we moved out of the general admission which was filled with putrid smelling San Franciscans. Seriously, I don't know what it is about that mix of nerd sweat and hippy body odor that smells like dead animals, but we split and moved back to the loge and then the balcony.

Kamelot opened for them, but they could just as easily have been the headliner....they got the crowd really whipped up. That guy's voice sounds just as good as it does on their recordings....I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, that is all. To recap. Nightwish's new singer rocks. And I'm a terrible father.

Hadn't seen that they switched singer halfway the tour, I actually didn't visit tours anymore the past years as I didn't like Anette's singing that much. It didn't fit the old Nightwish music that much, which I preferred to the newer songs.

But with Floor as singer I may actually go see them live again, I've seen After Forever live a few times and they were always great 🙂

Hmmm I went and downloaded (Zune Pass! totally legal! 😛) a few of their older albums (aka pre-Annette) a couple of weeks ago...good stuff. Nice to hear that they have realized that idea wasn't going to work.

You can't be THAT bad a dad. You're raising the kids on good ol' Metal.

That has to count for something.

Anyway, looks like I'm going to start paying attention to NW again. I dropped them after Floor left.

Tarja? 😉
(Unless Floor left already again, but I don't think she did 😀)

sounds like a great concert, I thought anette was fine on Dark passion play but didnt really enjoy their latest album, interested to see who they stick with for a singer going foreward and yes Kamelot kicks some serious ass

Never heard of this band until this thread. Googled some of their songs and now I know why I've never heard of them. They SUCK!

I stopped listening to them after Tarja left because her replacement stunk IMHO. Will check them out again to see if this new singer mops up the floor.

You have to find the ones previous to I think 2005 or so. Classically trained singer...vs some woman trying to sing since then.
