I just got back from my trip to Scotland. I was there with a group from school for about two weeks. My body still thinks it's 2:45 in the afternoon, even though it's really 9:45 in the morning. Oh well. We toured the country. We visited all the islands (Orkney, Skye, Lewes, Harris) and we stayed in hostels all except for two nights when we were on Lewes and Harris, where we were in hotels. It was a tour done by Gemini Tours. Very good. I had an awesome time. We literally saw every part of the country, except for the deep highlands. Inverness, Carbisdale, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Loch Lomond, you name it. I probably saw it.

In Edinburgh, we went to Salisbury Crag, hung out on the Royal Mile and on Princes Street. On the Royal Mile, there is a beautiful little cigar shop called "The Cigar Box". Oh boy. Can anyone say Romeo y Julieta No. 2? That was wonderful.

Anyone had McEwan's 80 Ale? That shit's good, too.

I love the fact that they dont card in pubs.

Anyone else been to Scotland?

Sounds like you had a good time. I take it you met a girl there? Or were you just in the perfect setting for a Romeo and Juliet scenario? I'm thinking about studying abroad in Scotland for a semester if it's a possibility.

i went to scotland a couple months ago, too. i spent 5 nights in edinburgh (day trips to glasgow, other towns), then 5 driving in a rented Rover sedan through the highlands. I loved it as much as you did.

did you notice that all the girls are HOT? i swear, the average ugly girl there is a headturner in america. and hardly any really fat or gross skinny people.

scotland rules.

agreed. although we did joke around about "the scotland effect". the scotland effect can be defined as a girl who looks hot from behind, and the side, but the face looks to be hit with a shovel.

;)

I got a picture of me on the border with bagpipes somewhere around here. Was visiting, that trip, the mafia family of a friend of mine there.

Gets in car....

I gotta visit scotland over the next couple of years...I hear it's beautiful up there...and I am almost half scottish...my ancestors come from a small village about 20 miles from John O'Groats.

I love the fact that they dont card in pubs.

Don't take cards?

Inverness, Carbisdale, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, Loch Lomond, you name it. I probably saw it.

Nessie?

One of our engineers were recently up there installing systems into Radio BBC Inverness and Radio Northsound (Aberdeen)...ey said the airports up there are quirky little places.

Drove past Loch Ness. However, we didnt stop. Too touristy. And Nessie is a hoax, anyways. ;)

By saying they dont card in pubs, I mean that they dont check ID. The drinking age is 18. If you look 18, you must be 18. ;)

Oh yeah. We stopped at John O'Groat's on our way to the ferry to Orkney. John O'Groats was a bit touristy. Nice place, though.

Twice. Summers of 1984 and 1985. Went scuba diving in Scapa Flow. Absolutely awesome. Took a ferry from Vlissengen, Holland to Sheerness, UK both trips. Drove all the way up to Scrabster. Then boarded another ferry without the car, and ended up in Stromness. Beautiful countryside, great people and lovely atmosphere.

And yes, the beer is beautiful.

I went up there for a weekend trip while i was in England. Loch Ness is beautiful! I spent time in Edinburgh and Inverness. I think I remember that cigar shop...but vaugely. McEwan's is great ale. They have it here as well, called McEwan's IPA. Great stuff.

Glad you had a good time, yo.

Did you go to or see the castle? Balmoral I think it's called? I know two friends that are over there working at the castle right now.
