Words of wisdom: If you feel like doing something stupid, drink Drano instead. If you feel like drinking and driving, drink lots of Drano.

All in favour of the :drano; emote? 😛

Aye!

At least you didn't kill anyone.. good advice though.

What about your coworkers?? What kind of friends let you drive away that drunk!

whats even worse is that if you get convicted of a DUI and it goes on your record, you can be denied entry access into some countries...

Here's one. If an American is caught DUI in Canada, he's barred from the country. Permanently.

Ouch. That seems pretty harsh from our "compasionate neighbors."

isn't .2 close to alcohol poisoning? or does it differ depending on the person's weight?

0.3 is about where you start risking coma/death. Someone in my dorm last year blew almost a .4, and that was an hour after he stopped drinking. 😕

0.2 isn't stomach pumping territory, but definitely fubared. I'm glad the OP recognized the seriousness of his mistake and learned from it. Drinking and driving is something I absolutely resent, especially when someone attempts to defend it as "not a big deal".

0.2 is just a good buzz for a veteran inebriate. Not saying you are one, just pointing out that BAC isn't all there is to the degree to which one is impaired.

Be careful here. I agree with the idea behind your statement in that most new drinking initiates hitting 0.2 would under the table begging for the world to stop where a tenured drinker has increased funcionality at that level of alcohol concentration. However, just because that veteran isn't stumbling or in the corner crying after that much booze doesn't mean the he/she is not impaired.

the demons ? So you had no control of your thoughts ?
Of course, the devil made him do it. There is no remorse being shown as long as there are other's responsible and not the OP despite the attempt at recalcitrance.

Great story, hope you learned your lesson, and hope this dissuades some people here who might be tempted to drink and drive.

Glad no one was killed. The cop stopping you was probably the luckiest break you'll ever get from the cops. If you went on, it'd be more than just money you'd be losing. Could be your life, or worse, somebody else's brother, father, mother or sister.

Next time you want to do something this stupid, just hand over $2k to your friend and ask him to bitchslap you instead. At least that won't go on your record 😉 😛

if you've learned your lesson it's all good this time
if you drink and drive again you suck more than ever.

So you're insinuating that I, in fact, do suck now but have potential to suck to a greater degree?
I didn't know I sucked now :brokenheart:

what we need to do is BAN alcohol beverages? agree or disagree? the choice is yours
more dangerous then cigarettes, weeds, acids combined, no drugs is this powerful and devastating to many people's lives :|
You are a victim of drug abuse like many others who drinks. either you drink or you don't!
their is no such thing a s agood drinker, when you sip a little you develope more tolerance as time pass, you will want more to increase stimulation or to maintain the booze effect 🙁
My dads is a heavy drinker, but you can't tell if he's drunk cause he is had been doing it so long that you can't even tell he's drunk... hes been in a wreck, drunk as stone cold but got off easy LOL
anyway you're fvcked, royally cuz for the rest of your life you will always pay a higher insurance premium. you would be better off taking a taxi, bus, or better yet walk, ride bicycle.

They are not going to ban alcohol anytime soon because:
1. most people do not care about dieing in a wreck caused by alcoholism
2. the police, lawyers, attorneys, alcohol industry makes good money off of people like you, a victim of their drug user
3. insurance company greatly benefit from people caught drinking while driving.
4. your misery, hard working money all loss due to this kind of crap addiction brings them more income then even all your taxes combined.
5. people are like a flock of sheep, they will never learn. if most people drink, you drink too just to fit in. it's called being like everyone.
Why try to be like everyone, when no one gives a fvck when you're in trouble from their lameness influence.
limiting age to 21 yrs of age is stupid, why not 65? 🙂 after your're retired, hey who cares?
just because you're 21 or olders doesnt mean its ok to drink and drive. haha what a bunch of looneys!
you drink you die soon, nuff said. it's a poison, very bitter and slows you down to crawl like a turtle crossing the street.

that maybe true but all he has to do is drink again, then drive illegally on suspended license...
what will the fines be this time? 10,000k? license indfinitely suspended? then he will learn his lesson LOL
He had it too easy LOL
only 6months, wow. I would sleep do that and say whoah... that wasn't bad, let's do it again! 🙂

ifeelsorry for people like him in general. someone must be gettting filthy stinking rich off their mishap
never try to outrun a cops unless you dont mind crashing into a bridge or off the side into a tree.

how's that even possible considering traffic laws are provincially legislated?

They probably have a countrywide database that is used for this kind of purpose?

That means a LOT coming from someone who just dumped more on a DUI than I have EVER spent on a car...

😛

Comparing my refusal to offer a boiled-down version for the lazy to your history of being an automotive cheapass?
I fail to see the logic 😛

I just resent being called lazy just because I smoke pot. (true though it may be! 😉 )

And as far as being cheap, well that's true as well, to some extent. I buy cars I can fix myself. True, those kinda cars are usually CHEAP, so it works out quite well. 🙂

BTW: Good that you learned a lesson, spendy though it may have been. And it was good of you to warn others of one of the pit falls of drinking and driving! At least it just cost you some cash and NOT your life!

Ah yes. Understood. The term was not meant to offend, lest I be offended myself. Perhaps I may have used "numbskulls" or something equally as benign?? Consider this an apology. 😉
