Got it handed to me for free by someone how had it sitting around in a box brand new and did not need it anymore

on new egg it got good reviews, should i use it ? how good is this cooler ?

Right now my E8400 is stock cooled

i would not mind hitting 3.6GHz or so if its really that easy

Its not the best cooler, but considering the price its a great value. Since you got it free you should definitely use it - its way better than the stock intel cooler.

It is the BEST bang-for-buck cooler available. It performs at about 80% efficiency compared to the top air coolers at 50% of the cost.

Amazing cooler. What are you waiting for.....put it on already :D

I had the AMD version on my Phenom 9850, it did a pretty good job of keeping it cool. It was not spectacular, but it kept my quadcore cool enough that I never ran into any stability problems even overvolted and with a few hundred MHz overclock. I can't complain, I got it for $25 at Newegg when it was on sale, it did very well for the money spent.

i wouldnt say its the best bang for hte buck anymore considering th exigmatek s-1283 is getting pretty cheap and outperforms this by alot but this is still a pretty good hsf, 3.6 is a pretty reasonable goal.

My old freezer 7 pro kept my Q6600 in check up to 3.4GHz, even watercooling couldn;t get that chip over 3.4 though.
