I don't trust those idiot lights...it's like the automatic headlights that everyone has these days. Sure, they go on at night, but then people get lazy and don't turn them on during the day when it's snowing or raining.

I'm sorry, that's retarded to tell him to pay for a ticket he couldn't have realized he was at fault for. It'd be like if he was driving in a 65 mph zone and get a ticket down the road and get told it's because I'm doing 65 in a 55 and the only sign that indicated the change to 55 was knocked down. It's a contestable ticket because you don't know when it burned out or anything. But if you get it fixed they'll probably drop the ticket

I had a cop who pulled me over for too much tinting. I wrote me a $250 ticket yet told me to appeal it at the same time. (did he feel bad?)

I wasn't gonna scrape off my $200 tint... I drove my very car to the court, showed up to the appeal and told them I got rid of the tint. They took my word and dropped it.

you're lucky... they in nyc, tint tickets aren't "fix-it" tickets and you would have to pay anyway. if the judge was nice that day, he MIGHT send someone to have the car looked at.

Yeah man, sometimes it sucks. Like me and my friend were driving and suddenly a cop stopped us. He gave my friend a fine for non functioning right head light. And the suckiest part? It went off just 5 minutes before we got stopped by that cop.

I'm quite anal about all my lights.
Whenever I pass a storefront after dark, I look in the glass to see if I can tell whether they are all working.
Sometimes, (as it's dark when I leave for work) I will stop and back into a parking space at a storefront with windows, check my rear tailights and my brake lights at the same time.

BTW, it is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is properly equipped BEFORE you hit the road.
(If the authorities had their way, this would mean you should do a full, all-around inspection of your vehicle every time you go somewhere.)

I've been pulled over twice in two weeks for a faded taillight. It's white instead of red. Both officers just told me to get it fixed ASAP. I did a few days ago. No hassle for me. Either way, if it's a FIXITTICKET......get it fixed and have an officer sign off for it, mail it in with the $25 processing fee and be done with it.

Take it to court, tell the judge it was working until the cop pulled you over and broke it. Demand they pay for the repair...




OR, fix the dammed thing, get it signed off, and see if they'll consider it a fix-it ticket...some places will, others won't...no federal law says it HAS to be dismissed if you correct the deficiency...
