I've worked at my company for 3.5 years now. In that time I've had one promotion with a 5% raise, and one cost of living increase with a 1% raise. A total of a 6% salary increase over going on 4 years :(.

I've made it pretty clear to my superiors that I'm not happy about it. We'll see what happens in the next year. Just need to finish off this project and then it might be time to find a new job.

If you have a good idea that they like you it might be time to start hinting that you can't see yourself in your position in the long term because of the compensation. No need to come out and say "I'm going to quit next week if you don't give me more money" but you can mention it's getting harder to stay doing what you're doing because its getting harder to afford it.

Translates to $1/hr actually in your wallet

Uh, if you get paid $9/hr, I highly doubt you're paying any income taxes.
$9/hr translates to $18K.
There is some Federal income tax.

Plus a small state tax along with the SS/Medicare.
He probably loses at least 15% of his gross somewhere along the line.

He may get it back in handouts/credits come April - but that will not show in his paychecks.

By the way, most people are making less than they were 10 years ago after inflation (of course the ATOT crowd is exempt from this statistic.....sits back and waits for one particular person to jump in here and brag about how much he/she makes and has gotten in raises! :p )

You're not making more (on average) than 10 years ago after inflation.

I'm making significantly more than I was.

But that's probably because 10 years ago I was working part time in college.

Not sure if that counts as me bragging or not.

LOL, wasn't you that I was thinking about, and like I said, I'm sure that the ATOT crowd is exempt from that statistic! ;)

Oh yeah, already ahead on that. I've told my manager, senior manager, and 2 directors that "I love the people I work with, and the job, but at some point money talks". Review feedback and bonuses come next month and I have high expectations.

It really is a good job but (as I told them) they need to work to keep me. We'll see how it plays out. I'd like the project release on my resume so any action is at least 6 months out.
