Just got a PS3... my initial impressions from a 360 user

I bought Flower to relax. The first few levels are very relaxing. But then things get funky and...unrelaxing. I'm not saying it was bad, it's just not what I was hoping for. I think I bought it on sale for $5, so overall I'm happy with it.

I also bought "Age of Booty" which is about Pirate Ships beating on each other. I give it 7/10.

Nice, good suggestions. I finished R&C: Tools of Destruction last night, so that didn't take me too long. If there's a used copy at gamestop I'll probably pick up Demon's Souls this weekend and give it an honest shot. Chances are it'll probably be way too hard for me and I'll take it back within 30 days, but I'll have to at least try it out.

People make Demon Souls sound a lot harder than it is. The only thing DS requires is patience - somethong some gamers lack. It isn't overly trying in skills, like Ninja Gaiden, or overly punishing.

But buying it used is a good idea, incase you dislike it. Try to put a bit of time into it (at least get past the 1-1, the first level of the first world) before returning it. It takes a little time to get into the game.

It definitely changed, but it seemed to do so to progress the "story". I still liked it, but I can understand why you didn't like it. The epilogue level was great though, and more in line with the beginning levels, albeit at night instead of day. Flower has been by far my favorite PSN game, of which I've played Pixeljunk Monsters/Shooter and fl0w.

As for Demon's Souls it might be just as cheap new; I see it for $30 at gamestop and amazon. I don't know if this is a temporary price drop or not, but you should be able to get it for a good price.

I've owned 2 of both and here's how I see it.
Ps3 good- free psn, blu Ray, quiet, psu built in, free wifi, free charging cable included bigger hard drive size and ability to change out for a bigger faster hard drive, uncharted series and little big planet are awesome games.

ps3 bad- psn sucks, update and psn downloads take forever, wifi is slow unless
you set it up thru a pc, some had faulty wifi and faulty drives that equals expensive repair, console is fugly, controller just feels unnatural, load times
seem slow

360 good- live is awesome works very good and you get alot less lag, controller feels great, console looks good, messaging is great, huge game library, better chance at getting used games cheaper, it's alot more reliable now then before, better warranty 3yrs vs 1 with Sony, new consoles are quiet, updates are speedy fast, alot of people online at one time

360 bad- old ones are loud, old ones break down alot, no free charging cable including, live isn't free but it's the best, no free wifi, no music or movie dl's as it has no browser, halo 3 sucks big cahonas, exclusives suck, seems to be getting alot of hackers now.

I honestly think if you have a pc then there is no need to get a ps3 at all unless you want uncharted, lbp, gow or the free wifi. I've owned 2 of both early on, both 360's broke down and I had a drive go out in one ps3, I then had a wifi unit go out in the other.

They are both good consoles depending on what you need and want to play. I sold my ps3 and built rig in sig with the money left over because I wanted to have the option of mods in certain games. I'm buying another console January 11th the day after my bday and it's gonna be a new 360.

I was happy with both systems, even tho they all broke down I enjoyed both of them.
My daughter loved lbp and I did too, halo 3 sucked, I tried to like it but I prefer a
more realistic shooter like cod hardcore mode.

I didn't need wifi but the bluetooth headset option for ps3 was nice, I didn't have a pc at the time so I used the ps3 for everything online and it really sucked big
time but it did get the job done. They need to make a version of firefox for the ps3 so the browser won't crash like it does.

I'm just going with the cheaper console a 360 because I don't care about the exclusives, I have 3 friends who play on 360 including my neighbor, I don't need wifi and I can't stand to watch another 25minute update.

Hopefully you enjoy the ps3 I did. God of war, lbp, gran turismo, and uncharted should keep you plenty busy.. Good luck and enjoy your console man..

Some of you guys must have really crappy wifi networks. Moved my PS3 (80GB and Slim) around the house and always got fast downloads of everything over PSN and firmware updates but of course PSN takes long to load up.

When I try 3 different routers with 4 different firmwares in two different locations, one of which is not more than 25 feet away from the PS3, AND every other device in my house has no problem streaming content over the same wireless network, I don't blame the network.

I'm not sure that the PS3's wireless connection was responsible for my problems; it's entirely possible that the connection speed was adequate and the problem was in software. My PS3 sometimes had difficulty even detecting that I had a uPnP media server, a problem I never had with the four other uPnP media players in my house.

That's exactly my thought. If it was my network, then I'd have problems somewhere. The thing is that my 360 works great, PC works great, iphone works great, plus a few other random friends have no problems with it. When a single device is struggling where others aren't, it's a problem.

That said, it streams video just fine... just as well as my 360 or better. So it's not really the PS3 itself causing the problem, it's that PSN is awful.
