I finally have a HDTV and a PS3. Now I need suggestions for other games to play. I am thinking about picking up DMC4. I mostly play RPG style games but I am willing to try other games. I might pick up last year's football game once the price drops.

I agree, but that's my taste, not the OP's.

OP - a good starting point would be Gamerankings or Metacritic? What genres do you like other than RPGs? Do you play online? If you like online shooters, definitely get CoD 4. Rent Uncharted.

Oblivion is supposed to be really good. I assume you got the 80 GB PS3, so PS2 games are probably your best bet in the RPG genre.

Assassin's Creed is worth a rent IMO, but many people disagree with me due to its repetitiveness.

I played Oblivion on my PC...I don't see a reason to play it again.
GTA series is not my kind of fun.
I also like RTS like Masters of Orion.
Have not done a lot of Online gaming, but since I can now connect to my router I might try WSOP (PS2 version).

Oblivion was a lot of fun on the PC even without mods, so the PS3 version is also a good choice.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance if you liked the comics and like "action RPGs" wiith less depth than real ones.

Folklore is recommended as a rental but I haven't played it myself. Uncharted as an Indiana Jones action-adventure.

PS2 - tons including Final Fantasy series, Persona 3 FES, Xenosaga 1-3, Shadow Hearts 1-2, ..........

I bought the 80 gig for the BC since I own most of the FF games. I don't see a reason to have two consoles from the same company hooked up to the same TV. The PS2 will be the DVD player in computer room.

Pretty much the worst genre for consoles. Tom Clancy's EndWar is coming in the fall, but it's a very console-oriented RTS. I haven't played any of the MoO games, but Wikipedia says they're turn-based strategy, not RTS. If you like turn-based strategy, Civilization Revolution comes out next month. Demo is out now. Definitely check out the demos on PSN.

Which football, Madden or NCAA? The NCAA demo is up on PSN and it looks promising to me. I think the last NCAA I have is 06, so everything about 09 is fresh and new for me and I like the way it's going. The Civ Rev demo is fun, but I have a few gripes with it. I know it isn't supposed to be the same as Civ 4 but I don't get why some things are the way they are. Lego Indiana Jones is fun too. After playing the PC demo I knew I wanted to pick it up when I got my PS3. Tons of fun with 2 players.

Agree with both of these. The story to folklore is convoluted and trite, but the gameplay is original and fun. Has kinda a pokemon feel to it where you capture monsters and then use them, up to 4 at a time, to fight. You have to level them up as well. The graphics are very nice and there is a lot of diversity to the different levels. No two realms look even remotely similar to one and other. wikipedia says theres over 100 different monsters to use, but I don't remember there being that many.. There are a few that will quickly become favorites and you wont ever want your party to be without them.. :)

It's not as open as I'd like, you can't go back to worlds you've completed already except in small mini quests, but the whole area isn't open. I think this fact alone is why I'd agree that it should be a rental and not a game to own... there isn't enough replay value, though there easily could be.. stupid devs

I would say the best RPGs for the system are Oblivion and Folklore, but I haven't really played either....my style of RPG is more in the final fantasy vein, so I'm waiting.

My favorites so far are Resistance, Unreal Tournament, Warhawk, and Ninja Gaiden. I have Uncharted, DMC4, and GT5: Prologue, which are all supposed to be good, but I haven't gotten around to playing them yet.

Anyone know the estimated release date of Final Fantasy XIII?

Also any Blu-ray movies you would recommend that really show off the HD capabilities of the PS3?

DMC4 is great if you like Japanese themed stuff. Great graphics, pretty good story (ok, not THAT good but it works), good gameplay and variety.

Uncharted is a must. It's only 8 hours-ish long including cutscenes. Still worth a few replays.

GTA4 for the hell of it. I think I clocked in 50+ hours, so it has the best value.

Ratchet & Clank if you want some good 'ole fun.

Resistance I don't have yet, but the demo was ok. Worth it if you can get it for less than full price.

Heavenly Sword is great, but at 6 hours, get it for $30 or less.

You suck. DMC4 is a great title. Oblivion is also awesome on the PS3 esp if you have a big TV. It looks delicious. :)
