My old chip was manufactured in 02, this was manufactured in 01. The numbers on it are different but the core speed/FSB is the same. The new one (older chip) was made in Costa Rica, the other in Malaysia. Should I be worried about anything? I was just kinda thrown off cuz the specs all matched up but serial numbers or whatever were different. And it looks like it's had a hs attached to it before, but it's supposed to be a new chip.

I'll take a stab at this one...

I would say that the new cpu you recieved has been used, at least for a brief time. I don't think you need to be worried about anyting, unless the heatsink is full of dust.

What was your old specs vs. your new specs (like a 2.8/533 to 3.2/800)? If it wasnt in box or "new oem", then it wasnt brand new, and being this old, it probably wasnt.

However, if it operates correctly and you were satisfied with the purchase price, I say its ok. Otherwise seek a refund and 'find' your new replacement.

Yeah all is well. Wasn't posting for a while but not sure what that was all about. Tackled each problem at a time, first the CPU, then the video card, then the DVDRW. All is well. It was OEM, I had the heatsink already.

It doesnt take much to scratch the pins on a processor. Thats normally the first thing I do when I get a processor that is "New" usually you can look at the pins and see scratches from where it has been inserted into a socket.
I agree with Felix though as well. If it works, price was ok and you are happy then all is well.
