is the rebate stand alone or do you have to buy something else?

Rebate is stand alone. You can get a $300 rebate with a Nikon EOS camera package.

The company Canon used for MIR's went bankrupt. Canon's just trying to work with customers to make sure the rebates get processed. Here's the LINK.
