Just got a Nikon D70- any other suggestions?

Any ideas on how to deal with condensation? When I take my 70-200VR for HS basketball it always has condensation and I can't take any shots. So far the only solution I've found is wiping both sides of the lens with my lens cloth. Is there some better way, or prevention?

I wish I have your funds 🙂

I prefer 85mm f/1.8 to 50mm because I like tight headshots and the working distance.
50mm is just too in your face for headshots. I also prefer 85mm OOF rendition to 50mm.

If you can wait a little more until mid february, you can see if Nikon will release some new lenses that you might be interested in. Maybe 85mm f/1.4 AF-S ?

Erm, the reason people use 50mm for headshots isn't for working distance, it's for the crop. Use the 85 1.8 for 3/4 to full body shots.

Besides, the OOF on my 50 1.4 looks great, no complaints here 😉

Was never a fan of waiting to see what Nikon's coming up with next. If I did, I wouldn't have had a camera to shoot with for the last 3 months.

Where are you keeping your camera/lens? If it's in the car and cold, then that'd explain the condensation when going indoors. Figure out a way to store it so the temperature change isn't so drastic.

Or ziplock bag it 😀

Yea I keep my camera stuff in my car sometimes. The 70-200 has it's own bag, and the others I keep in my camera bag.

I had trouble deciding between getting the kit zoom and the 12-24 f/4 DX but I splurged on the 17-55.

I think I'll get the 12-24 f/4 DX and the 70-200 f/2.8 to complete my set. Just have to work hard this summer for the cash.

I'm gonna go to sleep. 6:36AM here.

Definitely, it's because its the only true wide zoom lens there are for the Nikon right now. There's the Sigma but its slow and heavy. There's a Tokina coming out. I'm sure Nikon will drop the price on it later on.

The Tokina actually just came out, couple reviews already out there (minimal distortion, 77mm filters I think, F/4, possible CA issues). The Sigma aka Popeye is another cheaper alternative but I'd rather get the Tokina or Nikkor if you're planning to shoot just digital (Sigma won't accept filters but it'll work on full frame).

You don't really need anything lower than F/4 if you're shooting wide. It's designed for landscape photography (preferably with a tripod).
