Intel 4000 with 512MB

Welcome to the Family! I have owned my retina for some time now and like I have mentioned in many previous threads about the retina being worth the money or worth the investment, I can firmly say that it is by far the best computer I have ever owned. The speed, the screen, the portability, the weight, the power, everything about the machine is just incredible. I have the 2.7,16GB,512 SSD model so it is the higher end model but it is by far the best piece of technology I have ever owned. Good Luck with it, I'm sure you will fully enjoy it.

Anytime my friend. Time to ditch that white 2007 MacBook for an aluminum 😉

The rMBP has become my primary and only computing device. Personally, I found that once I worked on a hi dpi screen, there was just no going back to a normal screen. I look at my thunderbolt display and I actually say out loud "ew wtf are these pixels".

It's so sad how spoiled this thing made me. But really it's the future of displays, today.

I have the 13 inch rmbp and agreed this is the best piece of laptop I've ever owned
the size is perfect compromise between mobility and computing power

Yes, I can see the difference between my 2007 MBP and rMBP when I carry with me in my messenger bag rMBP is not that heavy compared to 2007 MBP, it killed my shoulder!!

While at home, do you use the laptop display or connect to an external monitor?

Just laptop screen. I used to be tied to my a larger screen at home, but after many years of consulting where having a dedicated monitor was often not an option, and the vast improvement of laptop screens, I am more than happy being able to work anywhere I want with my rMBP.

How are you liking it 4months on? Just wondering as I'm researching the 13" or the 15" for when the Haswell ones come out.

I'm on an aging 2007/08 white macbook with an upgraded 4GB ram and 256GB SSD drive.

I bought mine in January and it's currently my main computer. I still love it, and it's been flawless.

2.6 i7, 16GB, 512GB ssd, HD4000 + 650M. Should be good for a few years.

I got one last August. Easily the best computer I have ever owned. 16GB of ram and 760GB SSD. I ran vmware fusion with the unity view so windows programs show in my dock. It's really nice. I've got a few guys at working wanting an Apple now.

Had mine since July, and its definitely the best laptop I've ever owned overall quality-wise.

I can't call it flawless though- although it's so rare it doesn't bother me at all, I've had it lock up on very rare occasions due to some strange issue with the USB ports. (IE: plug something into the USB and *bam* it locks up.) But put in perspective: I plug USB devices in and out of it all day, every day dozens of times, and it's happened two or three times, so not a big issue.

Also: I've seen about three kernel panics when I've awoken it from sleep. About the same ratio of times as the USB issue. Still- not flawless, but close enough.

I've learned to live with the fact that I can't change the hardware spec in any way. It's too good of a laptop as is for me to care.
