I tell them multiple times not to do it but they continue to do so. I finally yelled at these people for doing it and they got pissy. Was I in the right?

Did you tell them WHY they shouldn't tough the screen? It can damage the scree and make it unusable. It is ok to point to the screen as long as they don't tough it.

When I first got my T60 that happened, I would be discussing some lines of code and showing it to one of my classmates and then one of my classmates would touch the screen, I clean the smudge and ask them nicely not to just point instead of touching as it gets hard to clean it the more it happens, most of them don't do it again as I use a very firm voice yet polite tone when saying so, but whoever forgets gets an impolite response from me which I have every right to do and most of the time they understand why, because it's a fscking expensive laptop that I payed for and want to keep in good condition, now granted I do have ThinkVantage Protection plan, warranty and all but I don't want to go through any trouble I don't need to.

So ya do whatever suits you, it's your laptop, you paid for it you determine what is appropriate for people to do and what is not.

Poke them in the eyes for every time they poke your screen. They'll eventually become blind, and your screen will still be fine.

Meh, I've given up on keeping my screen clean and only bother trying if I know I'm going to be in the sun or something. As far as people touching it, as most of my friends have laptops since we're all in college, it's kind of assumed if you break it you buy it.

I got one recently too and i couldnt hep but poke the screen...when it did nothing i became dissapointed...so i bought a x60 multitouch tablet...now all is right with the world 🙂
