am i retarded, or are viewing angles/distance sucky on these LCD screens? im curious because my lcd hdtv looks much better than this. i feel like i have to adjust the screen in a weird position to get what i should be looking out, otherwise it looks kind of washed out. ive noticed this before, but this laptop is supposed to be pretty damn good and i thought that problem was gone...

am i retarded or is this correct?

You are correct...
* CRT viewing angles are the best.
* LCD TV's aren't bad, but not the greatest.
* "Most" LCD monitor viewing angles suck.

Look for LCD monitors with 178°(H) / 178°(V) viewing angles.
They are the best of breed in screen technology... As far as LCD goes.

I really don't totally get the love affair that people have with LCD's.
Yes, I understand that CRT's are going the way of the dinosaur,
But LCD's don't rule in viewing angle, range of resolutions or range of color.

as much as I like my tinkpad t60...the LCD on it is definitely nothing special.

makes me miss the 19" CRT i used to have.

not all lcds are equal, view angle being just one variable when it comes to lcd quality. most decent lcds on laptops don't require excessive fiddling to get to look right.

I haven't seen a good laptop LCD, period.

Desktop LCDs are another story. There are some extremely good models out there, it all depends on panel types. I assume laptops are all TN.

Even the new macbook with its pretty LED backlit screen still has craptacular viewing angles and a TN panel 🙁
