Just got a call from @Home

The guy said that my cable internet access is not running as fast as it should be, so they want to come out to see what the problem is...I haven't noticed any change in speed since I've had the cable modem (over a year). Can they really tell if I'm using less bandwidth than I should be?

Yeah its true. The federal government (hey there on our side!!!) stepped in and said they had to allow the use of networks. Same thing happenned with me on the east coast with Optimum. Linksys rules!

where can i get info on not paying for additional hookups,
currently cox@home charges 5.95 for extra computer my son uses

hotrodder: they're probably charging you the extra $5.95 for an additional IP address. That's what I pay for mine to run a Quake3 server. If all you have is just a cable "modem" and no router, hub, or switch... then you're paying for the extra IP and you'd need to get a router (or some other such device) to share the one line and drop the other.

With most @home providers you have to pay for extra IPs, but you can use the internet on multiple computers at no extra cost if you can do it with one ip (ie, buy a router or install NAT/ICS on a computer).

Lol... wow, what a great company, you don't contact them to complain about anything, instead they contact you because you aren't getting the full benefits of what you pay for? That's a first, great customer service I've ever heard of... they probably trying to spy on you, them bastards...
