I just purchased a Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router, model BEFSR41 V.2, hooked it up to my desktop and notebook, did everything like the instruction manual said. I can surf the web, get on AIM, play CS, but I can't connect to any IRC servers.......

Is there some sort of setting I have to change in mIRC to be able to get through? Help? thanks

i can tell you why, i cant tell u the fix.

irc servers require the client to be running an ident daemon to indentify yourself. since the only external machine is your router, theres no identd. i honestly dont know the fix.

You need to forward port 113 on your router to the LAN IP of the computer you're trying to IRC on. 113 is the port for IDENT, which you need to access IRC.
