I just bought an A7V133 at a local shop and it was made in China rather than Taiwan. It is kind of weird where some of the capacitors are different colors and they use just a fan on the Northbridge rather than a heatsink/fan. It seems to run about as well as the one I have made in Taiwan and maxes out at the same 150 FSB speed. Just wondering if anyone else has purchased any ASUS products that were made in China and what luck you had with them, thanks

mine is made in tiawan, no telling what the diffences might be, you saying there is no heatsink, on the north bridge, but a fan, how did they pull that off. mine makes it to 152mhz, real stable in w98, w2k, 153 works but crashes its not worth 1mhz. ive got a 1gig bird, the highest it likes is 1224mhz.no matter what config of fsb multy.

Dunno if this still holds true. Years ago "Made in China" signified made in Taiwan. "Made in the People's Republic of China or "PRC" meant made in mainland China, as in not Taiwan, not Macao, and not Hong Kong, when it was still a British colony.

You are correct, because of politics, Taiwan is forced to call itself China.

On the real topic though, just got my A7V133 a few days ago with 850MHz CPU.

The highest clock I could get with CPU alone is 950MHz. Any out there with a similar config.

Are you sure it's "Made in China" or "Made in ROC (Republic of China)"? I heard some news about Abit/Asus outsourcing labor to China...I guess this just confirms it.

Yep, the box said made in China and the PCB said made in Taiwan, but then there is a sticker covering that saying made in China. The capacitors and fan used on the Northbridge are also different.

Hey guys. To keep this post alive, I am going to write about something. :) I purchased my board from Jazz Technology last week and it too is made in China. The fan on the Northbridge looks a lot different. The board is still revision 1.04 and came preloaded with BIOS 1001C. I was a bit worried that I had some crap board or what not because of the fan and socket. ;) The capacitor thing is true as well, they are different colors. Another note to add, the lever on the Socket 462 socket is made of plastic, rather than metal. That was the other thing making me wonder what kinda board I got. It runs superb as is, and I have no complaints about it what-so-ever. I got my 1.2Ghz chip in there and it flies like a motha. One more thing, I got the board with onboard audio, yes, yes, but only to use to record my EAX enhancements from my SBLive!

I always manage to forget something whenever I post. :) I wanted to let you guys know that the fan that comes on the Northbridge is square and sealed on 3 complete sides, unlike the Taiwan ones. This one, however, has the side missing that is nearest to the capacitor, where the heat exhaust is let out, rather than shooting it towards the AGP card and the RAM. I think that was a smart move. If you guys want some pictures of it, just reply or email me.
