Just got a 9800 Pro

It seems to me that most people use 01, so that is why I have that one. If I wanted a newer one, don't they have 04? would that be the best choice?
 
PCMark04 is a different kind of benchmark. Its PCMark not 3DMark. People get 3DMark01 because they like to see high numbers.
 
Use default settings whenever you run 3Dmark. That means 1024x768 in this case.

My R9700PRO at 360/340 scored 17,500 in '01 the last time I tested it. It's a very CPU limited benchmark at this point, so you're better off with '03. In '03 I scored 6,400.
 
I have a 2500+ running at 3200+ and I searched for people at 2.2ghz (3200+) with an athlon xp and they were 1200 higher than me.

They overclocked their 9800p, running on a divider with a higer bus speed, or have some tweaked out memory. In the long run it will mean maybe 5 FPS on AVG in a real game at the most. Dont worry about it.

So now that I have this card, what games should I get besides doom 3? I was thinking about far cry.

Sure. You'll be able to push Far Cry 1280x1024 no aa/af with Med-Max Quality. Or even 1280x960 Max Quality@ higher framerates.
 
i have the x800pro, benchmarks 19704 on 3dmark01se with a64 3200+ and 1024MB RAM. was only getting like 14000 without my chipset drivers! so make sure they're installed so you can take advantage of 4x/8x agp.

they reckon ati will win on half life 2 and far cry, but they say Nvidia has got it in the doom3 stakes.

i'm building a rig for my mate, and we're putting an ati 9800pro in. they';re so cheap now! like £120! well worth the money!
