Just got a 7950gx2

I think you should use ATI Tool to check. But hey, you don't have to listen to me if you think I'll destroy your card.

I don't think there are enough of them out there to really know an average. I used the detect optimum frequencies option on mine, and got 550/700, which is where she's at right now. Pure speculation here, but judging from the reviews and the heat coming off of my card, I don't think that 600/800 will be a reality for most.

detect optimum frequencies is the noob method of overclocking. it also doesn't detect very optimum frequencies, if you ask me. It set my card to 350/740, except that i'm running 400/820 now and my temps are perfectly fine. I have a 6800NU for reference.

the best method of finding out what the best overclock is to keep temperature monitoring up, and use ATITool's 3D artifact finder to see when you have artifacts at too-high clocks.

You'll probably get 550-600 on the core, 700-800 on the memory. Something in that range. Just keep inching it up and running 3D mark or something.

ATI Tool will do the trick. Yes I know it says ATI but it detects your Nvidia Hardware and adjusts itself to it. It's great for finding artifacts for both GPU and MEM.
Good luck with that card...wish I had one :-(. Even though I have crossfire, the GX2 is a better deal and deals out less heat.

i just did some stress tests on it and 3dmark05 600 / 726 seems to be the best.. got 11915 in 3d mark 05 but thats prolly coz im using a 3700+ @2.53ghz

Fear 1600x1200 , everything on max , no soft shadows , 4xaa 16xaf and supersampling aa on thru control pannel got 4% 25-40 96% 40+ , 39 min , 77 average 191 max

In some cards, such as the 7900GT, it definately makes a real world difference.

i just ran real time HDR IBL for awhile and cranked all the settings up card didnt go past 71 granted my room is cool but i dont my air con or ceiling fan on.. my 7800gtx use to get abit hotter.

wow.. nice fps! Did you have to update your bios for the card to work?

I updated my bios when i ordered the card so it was ready to go when it got here , not sure if it was required... when i plugged it in first time windows found some pci bridge or something tho.

Shouldnt you be getting higher 05 scores??? I get just about 200 less than you with a single

ATI does a bit better in '05 than Nvidia. Besides that the SLI overhead isn't being taken care of with his proc at 2.53GHz.

What?

I'm wondering if all people typically gain in 3DMark 05 from crossfire is 200pts... do you think you're CPU limited to 15k then?

My score is about 1,000 points more than average, Frackal. If you check the futuremark website, most people get about 14,000 crossfire score. How are you getting such a high OC on that x1900 mem? O_O

Of course it is... It's in the driver itself. However, there a few sites that OC'ed their review samples, and I haven't seen any of them hit 600/800. It's not as if you can slap an aftermarket cooler on there at this point, and mine gets plenty hot. (86C in rthdribl). I'm not saying it isn't possible by any means, just that the GX2's don't seem to be quite the monster clockers that the GT's are.

After about 610 the core fails the test change thing and at about 750 memory u start getting artifacts in 3dmark 05 / 06 and bf2.. my card doesnt go over 71c in rthdribl but it might be coz my rooms cold and i got a few case fans...
