Just got a 19" LCD

I had a 17" CRT which I ran at 800x600 and I replaced it with a 19" LCD that runs at 1280x1024. Now when I visit some web pages, the entire page is just a tiny image in the upper left hand corner. I tried changing the dots per inch in the control panel, but it didn't really help. Is there a setting or a piece of software that can magnify web pages or strech them out to fill the screen?

Example web page with the problem

Hold down ctrl and roll the mousewheel down. It should magnify the page.

(Works for Firefox, don't know about anything else)

crazybrowser has a magnifying glass which makes everything larger, enlarges everything, text, images and so on

...ctrl+mousewheel is the just increasing the text size, so it would work in IE too. It's a setting located somewhere in IE.

The web page was designed that way. Nothing wrong with your LCD and nothing you can do about it. The IE scroll-sizer doesn't support some webpages that use stylesheets either. The resolution change is what did it. Set your current 19" to 800x600 mode and it will look just as 'big' as your other 17" did.

I tried that and then it looked "fuzzy". I tried running cleartext after that and it couldn't make it look any clearer.

Just tried crazy browser. It seems good. I'll try it for a while.

It's just the resolution. If you put your 17" CRT at 1280x1024 resolution, it will just as "small" as your 19".

Run it at it's native resolutions and just get used to it. I run a 20.1" at 1600X1200...UPS website looks fine to me.

have you tried changing your LCD monitor refresh rate to 60Hz if it's not already using that refresh rate?

You have three choices - lower the resolution (which makes everything fuzzier), make ALL your text larger (which sometimes works against you in some programs and web pages) or increase the DPI of your desktop.

To change the text in all Windows apps: Display Settings -> Appearance tab -> Font Size

To change the DPI of the desktop: Display Settings -> Settings -> Advanced button -> General tab -> change the DPI from the standard 96 to 120.
