Just Got 360 with 175w Brick. Couple of Questions.

I just purchased at the Best Buy in Sherman Oaks, Ca. an XBOX 360 with the 175w power brick. (lot 142, dated 10-15-07, team FDOU) I'm assuming from what I've read on these boards that the 175w power plug is one of the only true ways of knowing if you have a falcon board. I haven't done any of the flashlight tests.

I have two questions:

1. It runs very loud. How loud is normal? I know the 360s are infamous for being loud. I have nothing to compare it to though so I have no idea if it's "too loud".

2. If I'm holding the system in my hands and, let's say, turn it upside down or on its side I can hear something moving inside. It's not something that's falling freely around inside the unit but sounds more like something ratteling inside. Is this normal or should the unit be pretty much silent when being turned upside down or sideways?

Thanks a ton. I appreciate all the info on this board!

Sincerely,
JettLag

2 is normal, i think its the sensor that knows if its vertical or not.

Well what part is loud? On boot the fans kick on and are loud, and when the disc is being read it's pretty loud... but before you put a game in and are sitting at the dashboard it's not as loud.

1. It's a crap-shoot...my Halo Edition Xbox is actually really quiet...it's great. My roommate's Elite is loud as hell...it's actually pretty annoying when watching movies...

In my experience, the noise made can even vary by disc. Most games are extremely quiet in my launch day Elite, but for some reason whenever I pop in my flawless, scratchless Guitar Hero II disc it sounds like a friggin' vacuum cleaner even while still in the Xbox 360 dashboard. Luckily, I never cared because GH isn't exactly a game you play with the volume low. 😛

I own about 20 games, all the rest are completely fine. Very odd.
