😱 whoa. thats some build quality there. kudos to honda. let em know how much ur mileage is, they might give u a little something.

No offense, but you really need to move closer to work if the two of you have put a combined 800k miles in 10 years... That's an average of 40k miles a year each. getting the mileage you do, I'm going to assume you average around 50 mph overall.

That means you each spend something like 1 month solid a year driving (that's 24/7, not 8/5). 1 month a year of exciting driving? Sure. 1 month a year driving like that though? Ugh, kill me now.

Unless you're both delivery drivers, then ignore everything I said.

Wow...I put 76,000 miles on my Elantra over 11 years, and it got driven just about every weekday, with the exception of during my first year of college, and vacation days here and there. 🙂 During that first year of college, it was more like once a week.

I wonder if my Subaru could ever hope to get that many miles. 😱 I might be ready for retirement by that time, unless I end up with a much farther commute, which I don't think is likely. I'd sooner move than have a long commute. Hell, I'm thinking of moving because of my 8 mile commute. I got all spoiled by my 2 mile drive back before the company packed up and moved across town, which was especially during the winters when it snowed every single week.

😀

We bought the car with 441,000 miles on it. We live 2 and 3 miles from our jobs, respectively.

Call Honda and tell them how well they built it. 😛

The funny thing is that there are two other Insights that I know of with over 500,000 miles. I'm never going to catch up at this rate. 🙁

I used to be a courier driver. That's where most of the miles on Insight #1 came from. I drove about 8,000 miles a month.

When we move back to Portland in May, I hope to get back into that line of work. At that point, I'll start driving the 450k mile car and she will drive one of the other ones. If that pans out, I fully expect to take a picture at 999,999 miles. 😀

Just in time so that Honda can make a big fuss about it reaching a million miles and give you a new NSX hybrid.

(for those that don't get it, there was a Married with Children episode where Al's Dodge was gonna hit a million miles and they were going to give him a Viper).

until he rolled it over, lol, I remember that one

anyways, keep on going Eli, Japanese manufacturing and build quality ftw

I'm eagerly awaiting "they don't make 'em like they used to" stories

My 19 year old Lexus has a little over 1/8th the miles of yours. I can't stand to drive, especially where I live. You risk your life even thinking about getting on the road around a busy university ... with college age drivers.

Epic picture eli!

I always thought those guages were the closest thing to lcars or knight rider in the automotive world.

I think the insight will go down in history very favorably. I would never get rid of those cars OP.

If honda only kept making them and making them better. Imagine where the platform would be compared to the toyota stuff?

Very nice Eli! I am just hoping to get 200k miles on my 1998 Acura 3.5rl. It has 179k miles currently.

Who can beat this: 1972 Jaguar Xj6 with 72k miles. :awe:

They bought the cars with high mileage already.
