I'd look the other way for now, but drop him a note in private, warn him that he could have been fired for it and if it happens again, you won't look the other way.
 
dude, don't flame me for getting this guy fired... bascially we were just scanning the servers that are running out of space. and this report was generated that shows two large avi and lots of pics. They were opend while my manager was in the room. So, it is not my fault he was stupid enough to use company resources in this way. I can't cover for him, and I know he's got kids because there are some pics of them. :/

Even my manger feels bad about bringing this up to this guy's manager now.....

Exactly. I am so often pissed off at fellow colleagues and how they use work facilities for personal reasons. Especially when it screws up their system and we need to fix their computer as a result. But as noted by someone else already, the entire IT department doesn't practise this same policy 🙂

Unless you're their manager, it's not cool to mess with someone's job, especially for such trivial things as his own pr0n collection.

I've seen the same thing on my network and I usually pull them aside and give them a good talk. This can be used for leverage later. :evil:

Now if they have kiddie pr0n, by law, you do need to report it, no matter who it is. :|

You company should have procedures and policies for such incidents...
 
Just get rid of the evidence for him. I've found stuff on our servers of that nature (never video) and I just delete it. If someone keeps sticking stuff out there, I'll warn them privately. That has always ended it. If it were to continue after that, then I would report them.

seems like some people are angered while others are laughing. so it just goes to show that I can't please everyone.

the company procedures and polices for this type of incident is pretty harsh and calls of immediate dismissal. and we just found out that he's only a contractor, so he won't be able to appeal it. he's getting escorted out immedately. 🙁

Very sad that this happened. Even though I manage the network here at my company, I know not to put any of my personal data on production servers, I keep it right on my local machines.

talk to your manager and ask him not to squeel. all you guys have to do is go to him and tell him what you found. that alone would be enough to scare the bejebus out of him and i guarantee it will never happen again.

oh and POST THE VID!!! There is nothing better than real amature porn.

you assed need to learn how to read. Pepsei didnt have a choice. his boss was there helping to find out where all the space was going on their FLS and his boss was there when the results of the report were generated and was there when the file was opened.

its not Pepsi's fault its out of his hands.
