The way you get stuff done is by single-tasking.

Multi-tasking can work in some environments, like if you're an assistant or secretary & have to answer phones, type stuff up, check people in, etc. all at the same time, but if you want to burn through 50 math problems for school or build a computer or do whatever, you kinda need your attention directed on it. Music or TV on in the background is fine if you don't get distracted easy.
